Isn't there some new rules regarding the decency of booth-babes this year ? Or was that in effect last year too ?

Rules are meant to be broken my friend (pirate)

Learn to read... Doesn't say at all that it wont be playable, just not everywhere. They will do a restrictive and limited demo's of it since they probably don't want every manhandled (like Zelda was last year)

This article also seems to be targeted at 3rd Party Developer (x360 was barely in any 3rd Party booth last year) booths... no mention if Sony's booth will be different.

Basically... closed door or a long line to wait in to play.

Quake Wars, Prey, Project Offset, UT2007, Stalker

About the PS3, I'd just like to know how loud it is especially if you can compare it to the level of noise of the Xbox 360. If things are really noisy at E3, heh, don't bother since I doubt you'd be able to hear it anyway.

I'm not an idiot, I read the article. I know it quotes Sony as saying that it will be playable. ALL Sony said was "it will be playable". Did they say anything about people at E3 being able to play it?

We are expecting big queues to see the PlayStation 3 and so will be taking great care to manage the crowds in the best way possible

To me, Sony makes it sound to me that the PS3 will be for them to play, and everyone else to stand in line and watch

And considering we are in a thread talking about what we believe a member from this forums visiting E3 should visit, and the article makes it sound pretty clear that any joe off the street will not be able to walk in and play a PS3, that is what I meant by "not playable". That it's a bummer he won't get the chance to play the PS3

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough, but don't jump out and assume everyone's an idiot- try to apply some context of the thread. I believe "playable" means people can play it. I'm sick of seeing a Sony employee playing the console and calling it playable. Only when they throw the controller in the hands of a person will I ever consider it more than a demonstration, but actual playing

kev13dd, When something is restricted in playable form at E3, it just means that they have few demo stations available and attendee's must wait in a LONG line to be able to play the demos. This is how Zelda:TP was last year, aswell as Call of Duty 2 for x360. They had 2 units with the games and people had to stand inline to play them, you also couldn't film or take pictures.

Everyone will get a chance to play PS3 at E3 aslong as you are willing to wait in line.

Except, like I quoted SONY as saying above, they expect "long lines to see the PS3". Why see? Why did they not say "long lines to play the PS3". In my opinion, since Sony has NOT come out and said "people will be able to play the PS3 at E3" there won't be playable ones. They've avoided the question, they've avoided talking to devs, and as such, I see it being a LOT like last year

Considering that at GDC many games were announced to be playable at E3, I don't think they will not have it on the showfloor.

Quoted from the Spng article YOU posted...
We put these concerns to Sony Computer Entertainment America (Which means they contacted them), who while assuring us that the PlayStation 3 would be in playable form, did indicate that a massive open floorplan packed with hands-on units was unlikely. "We have always said that the PlayStation 3 will be playable at this year's E3 and that hasn't changed," explained Ryan Bowling at SCEA. "We have a three platform showing this year and of course the PlayStation 2, which is now more popular than ever, will share space with the PSP and the PlayStation 3."

You really got selective reading... You quote a single part of the article and ignore the others. Also by stating "See" he means that not everyone will want to play it but atleast look, heck even if your playing it your still "seeing" it. Don't we say "Let me see how the game runs on my PC" or "I want to see how good that game is" when we talk about demos for our PCs?

If you want to continue to discuss this matter, I will point you to the GDC speeches that clearly state that the certain games will be in playable form (WarHawk, MotorStorm and Resistence).

Then point away

Because I quoted other parts of that article- even the ones you posted- and no where in any of them does it say people will be able to play. Last year at E3 it was in playable form with games like UT2007 being "played" on them

If he meant "not everyone will want to play it but at least look at it" then ok, grand. He mentioned the see part. Now why hasn't he mentioned the play part? Sony has slipped around the question and made statements that don't answer anything

He hasn't stated people will be able to play the PS3 at E3. Period

He has stated there will be playable PS3s at E3. Big freakin deal. I think the only thing E3 will hold for the PS3 will be a new controller

Secondly, it was confirmed that the PlayStation 3 will be playable at E3 this coming May. Though widely expected, the news was confirmed by Dylan Jobe of Sony Computer Entertainment's Incognito Studios. After presenting a high-definition, real-time demo of the forthcoming remake of Warhawk, the developer commented that the game would be playable at the event, meaning there will be PS3 kiosks on the show floor. Whether they will contain the finalized hardware unit or a SDK, as the Xbox 360 did at E3 2005, was not specified.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6146417.html?q=warhawk

Developers do not say that a game is playable if they are the only ones who play it, its then said to be on the show floor or just at the show. Like how Rise of Nations and Age of Empires III was last year, the developer stood there and played while we watched.

Ha ha nah, nothing against Sony. I'm pretty much against any company that won't just call it straight. There is a major difference between a company spinning words around and one who gives you a straight answer. Along with the "playablity as in watching a trained PR guy play" thing, I hate hearing "real time". Sony has been the #1 person to come out and continually say everything is running in "real time" while running scripted videos... sigh...

I just want for once a company to come out, show real-time GAMEPLAY, and allow others to experience it too. That means so much more to me than watching a demo video or someone else playing

If it's playable at E3, it will be filmed by us...Look at last years coverage...This years coverage will be even better (I'm adding a tripod and hopefully a mic...lol). But seriously, most games at E3 are playable, and I'm willing to bet there will be PS3's there that are playable as well, though like Magus said, most likely long lines to do so...

And Finally, please stop threadcrapping. This has turned into a debate that doesn't help us to decide what to cover and what not to. If the PS3 is there in playable form, we will catch it...if not, then we wont...let it rest now please...

Not Sonys fault you don't know the definition of "Real-time"... your fault.
