Recently I haven't been able to play WMV-HD files, even 480p ones are playing choppy. I have tried both WMP10 and WMPC and both can't play HD videos from IGN and the 720p T2 video from MS will play smooth on WMPC but not on WMP10.
Anyone have an idea whats up? I have all the proper codecs installed.

What does your CPU utilization look like when playing them?

10% or so...

Wow that's odd. So at least you can rule out CPU usage then. How does disk activity look? Is it grinding away while playing?

Nope, Thats the strange thing. I can't seem to find any real cause of it. Maybe it's K-Lite, even though I never had an issue before.
Just tried some H264 720p files and they run perfect...

Well I would say try another player but the WMV-HD discs have DRM hooks in them such that they won't play on anything but MS's media player.
Are these actual discs/movies or are they preview clips downloaded from their site?

preview clips
I tried Windows Media Player Classic and it chops up aswell with the 480p HD Video but not with the HD videos available on MS's site.

K-Lite? Is that a player?
I like MPC (www.gabest.org). If you feel like it give that player a try. Free, cheap, light, and works very well.

K-Lite is a codec pack, contains all the codecs I require but seems to have an incompatiblity with WMV-HD.
