I guess to answer this question you will need quite a bit of knowledge of the Linux driver. Anyways, we wanted to use a 22" Apple Cinema Display for molecular modelling in our lab in conjunction with a QuadroFX running on Linux. For that matter, does the current Linux driver even support the QuadroFX? Any ideas on when a driver supporting the QuadroFX will be out?

I am desperately searching for a powerful professional graphics card that supports Linux and possibly, but not necssarily, supports the Apple Cinema display (I have an ADC to DVI adapter for this, but the Linux driver will need to recognize the Apple display). Any help would be greatly appreciated, and any direction to someone who could help me is also greatly apprectiated. Thanks,

RJ

like someone posted earlier, the current drivers do have support for Nv30 and Nv30GL so i assume that is the quadro fx :)

A lot of folks are using the 20, 23 and 30" displays with the Quadro FX cards with much success.

I am using 2x 20" Cinema Displays on a 6800 Ultra with dual DVI connectors and it's perfect for 3D modeling, etc.

The hard part is the xorg.conf or XF86Config-4 file configuration but lots of us can post you ours once you have drivers installed, etc. It's a little bit of a pain but it's good in the end!

the 4400 can do 2x30" displays, but whether or not it works with the linux drivers is what I really want to know, as I'm thinking about doing it :D

TotalCommand,

I am running multiple workstations with anything from 6800GT driving an
Sony PremierPro 22" display to Quadro FX-3000 driving a BigBertha Flat Panel display to Quadro FX-3400 and FX-4400 driving the APPLE 30" Cinema Display. Just be careful with your modeline all those displays are 60 hertz refresh. Using the NVIDIA linux drivers.
