Don't worry about the screenshots; you can see them by clicking on the link. :) Thanks for posting this, it was definately an interesting read. Too bad I don't have the money to buy a setup like that and having two black bars in the middle would bother me. :-/ Those screenshots do look amazing though!;)

Nice article paddywak.

One question though, where did you get the plugin that adds numbers for health\magicka\fatigue? I want it :D

Did you have to modify the games to support the resolutions? Most of the games look really stretched on the sides...

The only thing thats effected by changing the aspect ratio is the Field of view and the interface.

It looks a little warped in those pics so I think the FOV could have used some more adjusting, but the interface looks fine. I think they just have it "floating" in this game, it isnt tied to the resolution, it just always looks a certain way and will be in a certain spot. Thats why the game has native widescreen support im guessing.

No worries, I am sure mike won't mind this time as that triple head gaming article was cool and we also lots of widescreen gaming monitor adopters here!. I wish I could afford 3 LCDs and that matrox triple head! :D

You have to remember that the two outside screens are for peripheral vision and only enhance the immersion ... When you are playing the game for the most part you are looking at the centre screen just as you would if you only had one screen so the stretched or warped images that you see on the sidescreens (for this game or any other game) are not a problem and look right when you are actually playing the game as opposed to viewing screenshots ... ;)
It is something that you have to experience to really understand ... I have had people say the screens look warped or stretched ... as soon as they actually have a go on my machine they understand it isn't a problem and the games look great. Quake 4 does have an aspect ratio problem and looks very strange.

Did you have to modify the games to support the resolutions? Most of the games look really stretched on the sides...Some games you do have to mod to get the resolutions some you don't ... Oblivion works out of the box ... all resolutions.
Re the sidescreens and the stretched look ... see my answer to CaptNKILL above ... :)

Thanks for your reply and understanding ... MUYA ... I just thought some of the guys here would like to see the screenshots ... :)

Nice Paddywack! Thanks much

The only problem seems to be is the framerate takes a big hit...correct?

Hey glad you liked it ... :)
Yeah ... you need a very good system to run 3840x1024 and get decent frame rates in Oblivion.
I get about 30 fps in thick forests with my horse and dog in the scene.
Indoors though framerates are fine.

I'm hoping any upcoming patch will improve framerates.

Here's a question, Paddywak...
Since this is one screen at 3840x1024, windows maximize across all three monitors as opposed to the one the application is on? If so, is there software for the TH2go to manage windows to act more like nVidia's DualView instead of just a span?

Hi there TierMann ...
It is not the same as dual view as your desktop is still spanning all three displays but there is software to manage your desktop applications.
Here is a picture showing some preferences ...

Some reviewers say it could be better but doesn't that go for every piece of software ever made ? ... ;)
I am more than happy with it.

Nice :) Thanks for the info.

When I'm ready to upgrade (if multiple monitors in SLi still aren't supported) then this is probably what I'll get. I was just wondering about the spanning vs being treated as seperate displays because I've been using DualView for a while now. I would have to set up a switch or something (not a big deal but a big mess of wires) for when I'm in SLi or not.

I'm glad you seem to have seen it before it dissapeared and that it helped.

Nice article. Can you post the framerates you're seeing in each game you tested?

The screenshot is still there, but the server it's on doesn't support direct linking. I had to backtrack up to the directory it's in and view it from there, heh. :p

Thanks for letting me know ... :)
I have asked them about the server blocking images and they say it shouldn't be .... I'll get them to double check.

Regarding the frame rates ... all excellent ... apart from Oblivion which isn't too bad considering the resolution ... see above ... and that was with everything at max ... :)
I've not been feeling too well lately ... I'll post some frame rates when I'm feeling better.
