Hey guys, just wondering if an IGP would run vistra nicely. For example the GeForce 6150. Now I know IGPs are probably against more of your religions but this cpu is for a "friend". Oh yeah, and is it any better than my Ti4600?

The 6150 will work better with recent games, but the 4600 is probably quite a bit faster in the games that it does work in.

I had a 4400 128MB overclocked to 4600 speed and it was significantly faster than my FX 5600 256Mb in every game I tested. Obviously the FX series sucks ass, but the 6150 isnt a speed demon, so I wouldnt expect it to outperform a desktop card even as old as the 4600.

I'd keep it. Like or not, newer cards = better driver support. Which means everything from video playback to games.

Yep, I agree.

The 6150 wont be fast but it will work far far better in recent games than the 4600. Some games wont even work with any geforce cards older than the 5 series (like Battlefield 2).

That said, you'll be running newer games at very very low settings and it probably wont be smooth.

Can't expect miracles from onboard video!

I built a comp with a 6100 in it and that thing is a little beast, it far passed my expecations, itll play hl2 on med. settings...

i have faith in some of the newer IGP's, i've seen from benchmarks that they can be compared to the 6200's and X300's, which of course, aren't fast, but they're better than a geforce fx 5200, and i can say from experience (i have one in my backup rig) that 5200's suck, but it's possible, not easy, but atleast possible to play Counter-strike : Source on them, and if that 5200 can, then almost definetly a brand new IGP solution could, i'm not saying they're great, but for extremely low budget gaming on older games, it works

Built a cheap box for kids/browsing/etc machine with a Sempron and 6100 mb chipset here

I put a gig of cheap ram in it etc

Fired up WoW (admittedly not a graphics intensive game ) and was bit disgusted
that it ran fine with good bit of eye candy on , after I had my gaming machine costing what it does :)

The 6100/6200 Nvidia chipsets on the mb's seem to do quite well for what they cost
