They could have slightly different calibrated thermal sensors... Is this under idle or load? Load would be a better indidcator anyway...

this is idel load temps.. why whould load temps be better?

because who really cares what your idle temps are, load is where it counts.

I do find it odd though because my GPU1 has consistently had higher idle temps of about 4 C, in both my previous SLI setups (6800gts and 7800gtxs)

I had 3 SLI setups till now (2x6800U, 2x7800GTX, 2x7900GTX) and in all cases GPU1 temp was a bit higher than GPU2 temp, under load. About 4-6 C.

so why am i getting the opposite? temp readings?

mmm

if i turn my pc upside down it will be ok then ... lol

You may want to double check and see if GPU2 has a poorly mounted HSF assembly

explane wot you mean .. not sitting on chip?

i have the heat pipe version 7800gtx

It is possible they did a crappy mounting job or maybe the TIM is poorly spread over the chip (or not applied at all)...

i have a dent on one of the heat pipes whould that make a differance?

also have you heard of the tim not applied?

doubtful (the even that caused the dent might have loosened the sink though)

also have you heard of the tim not applied?

Rarely, but I doubt there would only be a 4 C difference...

Just take off the Heatsink and re-apply some AS5 or whatever and check it again.

yea no wot you mean .. is it hard to take the heat pipe off? also in everest it shows the fan is slower the gpu2 by 22 rpm whould that do it?

mon

right just done fear test and gpu2 was 3 c above gpu1..

IT SAYS IN EVEREST THAT GPU2 THE CPU AND AMPENT IS COOLER THAN THE GPU2 ..?? it is on the diodes are showing hotter .. wots going on here it might be my diode faulty

were is the diodes located on the gpu?

Swap the cards and see what temps you get.

My GPU2 is always cooler under load then GPU1 regardless of which card is in which spot. GPU2 is usually 7-9 degrees cooler.

allready done it the gpu1 was 9-10 hotter then my gpu2 this is before i swapped .. now i get gpu2 4 c hotter than gpu1

nearly got confused then

When GPU2 was in position 1, it was 10c hotter than the card in position 2, when it should have only been about 4c hotter. Now that it's in position 2, it should be about 4c cooler, but instead it is 4c hotter than the card in position 1. Really sounds like bad HSF mounting to me.

no when gpu2 was in gpu1 it was 10c hotter .. also can not understand why the diode is saying hotter than gpu and ampent and the fan speed is slower than the cooler card ? will this make mutch differance? 22 rpm slower

also had a good look at card and it looks ok also if i do diasemble it .. it looks like it has thermail pads on mem can they be reused .. i have on hand artic coolng mx and the akasa thermail paste ak-450 are these ok for card ..
also the dent on the heat pipe will this def not reflect on the heat of card?

Is The Diode The Best Temp Reading???

thanks mate some one here same as me .. do you have or used everst? also how big is your case and do you have the standard cooler or heat pipe?
