View Full Version : Cooling solution question
I am looking for an alternate cooling solution to the default cooler on my setup.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
I see a lot of solutions for the chipset but I don't know if it will work and has all the necessary clearances for the AIW version :(
Assistance from all you 3'rd party guru's would be appreciated.
I had a Zalman 7700 CU with a leadtek 6800 Ultra...no problems...now cooling my x2 4400+@ 2.6GHz
For the video card m8. My cpu is fine
Have you considered the Thermaltake Tide Water?
Zalman VF700-AlCu, VF700-Cu, or VF900-Cu are all good. The VF900-Cu adds a heatpipe which adds a little cooling performance. With the VF700-AlCu I saw 8C drop (59C-51C) in max temps on a 7800GTX in a hot (28C) room.
The VF900-Cu performs the best but at $40+. Last night in a much cooler room I was running 42C in Oblivion with a 7900 GT (550/1580).
As for the TideWater I have seen them selling for <$70.
I just dunno if any of the coolers interfere with the tuner component :(
Might get the dimensions from the Mfg's site. Would give you an idea if there are clearance problems.

Are you talking about the tuner on the X800XT or a separate PCI TV Tuner card? Either way, I think you'd be ok clearance-wise with the Tide Water since it can sit in your last two PCI slots and then you just have the very low profile of the water block on your GPU. Here's a pic from my review to illustrate:
