Who has a 7900 gt, and does your card's fan speed throttle? As in.. if your on the desktop, does the fan slow down, and if you're in the game does it speed up.

The 7900GT has defualt fan speeds of 20% fro 2D and 50% for 3D.

You can chnage these with a BIOS mod or wait for the new Rivatunner.

There are some cards that show those settings in the bios.. but they run 100% all the time. I made to post to see who has the same problem.

I think my BFG 7900GT is running 100% all of the time.

Yes, my 7900 GT fan speeds down when not running any games.

The stock cooler on mine ran slow on the desktop and faster during games. There's an option in the nVidia control panel to have the fan on all the time though.

My fan ran at 100% all the time (or rather it did until I replaced it with a passive cooler!).

Throttles here too. Can't hear it in desktop but when overclocked and pumping frames it goes fast...

Weird, because my mate has the MSI 7900GT and that doesn't throttle AFAIK

My Asus doesn't throttle either. I don't mind though as I got an aftermarket, ie quiet fan on it now :D

My eVGA one runs like a bat out of hell when first booting up and then slows down just a second or two into the black Windows XP loading screen. It then runs pretty quite until game time. However, it isn't near as loud as it is for those few seconds on first boot. Geesh, that thing is loud then!
