How do I change all my folders at once so they can be viewed by list?
I don't want to have to go into each folder and choose view by list. Isn't there an option in Windows XP Pro that allows the user to just choose view by list on all folders? Please help! :( Thank you! :D
You have to go to folder options and if you want to use the exact same view style on all folders, select that option (yep, there is one that says use same style on all folders or some such fancy thing), then change the folder settings to display as a list.
Voila. All done.

Would you please be a little more detailed then that? I'm in Folder options.
I don't see the option that will allow me to modify view all folders by list. Where do I find that option in folder options?
When in folder view, click on Tools > Folder Options > View and then you will see 2 large buttons. One will say "apply to all folders".
That's what you click on once you have set your display preferences for the folder.
-edit-
Also make sure underneath those options, where it says "remember each folders settings" or something, make sure that it is checked.
Apply and voila, all done.

I did everything you told me to do, and it's still doing the samething.
I wonder if there's something else that needs checked? Please advice?
I dunno, it works for me.

Same here. Fact that's the first thing I adjust after I do a cleain Windows install.
Open a folder and change the view option to "list" or "details".
Then tools/folder options/view
The "remember each folder's view settings" should be unchecked.
Then click the "Apply to all folders button".
The "remember" setting overrides the "apply to all folders setting", so it has to be unchecked if you are doing this to an old install.
On a new install, the "remember" setting doesn't matter since none of the folders have view options saved yet.
Unchecking "remember" also makes traversing folders a bit faster since it doesn't have to check for view preferences.

Only possible thing I could think of, and it depends how it's applying these. Perhaps be at the root of the drive (c:, d:, or whatever), and then have it apply to all subfolders. Some of the properties apply from the folder one is in down, however, if one's going into folder properties under the tool menu, I wouldn't think that would matter.
Given it works for other people though, I'm not sure what to say...
