if you believe amazon, they say it will be released may 2, 2006

I've heard so many great things about RE4, that I"m going to get it on the PC.

I hope they make it easy to control.... or setup my PS2 controller hooked up the pc.

That's just it. I doubt it will be out any time soon, since there really hasn't been any news recently. I'm sure there will be alot more hype closer to the actual release date.

Pushed back to the 2nd June on play.com

It was set for a 26th April at one stage, or 24th ...something like that.

Any release date for Devil May Cry 3? Hope they don't screw either of the ports up. Would love to Resident Evil 4 in 60fps, but I'd be really surprised if they can get over the 30fps lock.

It depends where in the world you are. For Europe it's now June 30th according to amazon, eurogamer and gamestracker.

ah...it has all the PS2 extra contents. I guess this means it will be a basic port of the PS2 version much like Onimusha 3. No big deal really. It'll still look good and should play well plus you could just jack up the res and add plenty of AA and AF. I do hope though that they use the gamecube engine as its superior visually over the PS2 version and use the engine for the cinematics instead of video like the PS2.

They never swapped out the engine cutscenes for CGI in the PS2 version... the only thing that was changed were texture quality and polygon count. The PS2 had superior color and true widescreen progressivescan support.

The Engines are the same... I don't know where you got the idea that they were different.

I never said CGI. It uses video using the engine during cutscenes instead of being realtime like the gamecube version. Also, the cube version has superior framerate and as you mentioned textures and poly counts. Yes, I know the PS2 has proper widescreen support as well.

I know the engines are the same and shouldn't have said that. What I should have said was I hope the pc port is based more on the cube version visually (meaning using the cubes superior poly counts, textures, realtime cutscenes over video) while have the extras of the PS2 version. No big deal really as the game is still awesome even if its a direct PS2 port.

The Cutscenes on the PS2 are in realtime... I have it and the Gamecube version. The Texture quality isn't that different either, only lower filtering quality (looks more rough and jaggie). I wouldn't call the Gamecube superior... The graphics aren't that different, heck if anything I would prefer the better colors of the PS2 version over the slightly sharper textures. The Frame Rate isn't that better on the gamecube, its only hiccups acouple of times on the PS2.

You actually played both you honestly dont think the Gamecube is superior? It is the same game but put them side by side and the GC version clearly looks better even if the PS2 has better colors Magus.

Another small difference between the GC and PS2 versions is EMBM. Although used very lightly in the GC version (mostly on items in the inventory screen), I'm almost positive the PS2 doesn't support it.

Here's one GC vs PS2 comparison (http://ruliweb3.dreamwiz.com/ruliboard/read.htm?main=ps&table=img_screen_con&page=1&num=8547&find=&ftext=&left=h&time=), but it's not the best comparison ever. I wish they would of compared scenes from later in the game because the town area is far fromt he best looking part of the game. The Castle interiors and that undergrond lava area would of made for excellent comparison shots, methinks.

As for the color being better, maybe so, but I think the muted colors in the GC version were intentional. Although the colors may be better, the overall lighting quality took a big hit. Water quality has also taken a noticable hit.

I hope the PC version has good control setup... Either mouse/keyboard, or probbaly better yet, a good way to correctly bind the keys/sticks to my PS2 controller plugged into my PC.

The Ubisoft product page says it suports gamepads, so your PS2 pad should work fine as long as the drivers don't somehow prevent the game from detecting it as a generic controller.

Here's a small comparison I gathered.

Most notable differences: Water and texture quality.

El Gigante on PS2:

Most notable differences: Poly count, texture quality, and lighting quality.

The Merchant on PS2:

Most notable differences: Sorry I couldn't find shots in the same location, but there's still an obvious difference in lighting quality.

I thought it was pushed back to the first week of June? Devil May Cry 3 will be out before this, and dmc3 isnt due till the end of May.

They're coming out in order.
Onimusha 3, then dmc3, then re4.

Gotta get to dmc3 before you can hype for re4 =/

Its not that 24 days is that long away, but its that no one knows if that is even an official date yet...It has been delayed way to many times to trust that 100%.

I think the longer they take with a console port the better. To many capcom games have come out on the PC with minimum effort, they played so bad (just look at the resi's and onimusha).

I've got a feeling they may be giving this more attention. Hope I'm right! :D
