View Full Version : Does overclocking PCIe 16x with SLI yield performance boost?

I don't know if there is a bottleneck or not running SLI on a PCIe 16x board, so I'm not sure if an OC on the PCIe bus helps much...

No, I dont think there is ever a performance increase from overclocking the PCI-E bus. I wouldnt touch it.

It seems that in 7900 series and more specifically in GTX flavor cards some people managed to gain more stability and eliminated their lockups and freezes by increasing the PCIe frequency to 105. Its mentioned somewhere in the 7900 freezing lockup thread.
Also OP the overclocker guy managed to gain higher overclocks on 7900GTX by raising the PCIe frequency to 120. But I am not suggesting that you do it.
Those guys dont care if the card dies (or other system components) they want the highest possible oveclock and usually they kill a card or two in the process.
