lol I know right? Needless to say, I haven't been to an "authentic" chinese restaurant since. I'll stick with the Americanized chinese food thank you!

I once ate at an authentic Chinese food restaurant here in new york (around St Marks Square if anyone is interested). The entire menu was in chinese. Some of the stuff was really good (I had some sort of ginger chicken), but they had some WACKED out food like bull penis and cow testicals.
Maybe thats what you needed? They have them chinese medicinal food restaurants to balance your chi and possibly they prescribed that?

But yeah, due to disasters one time or another, the Chinese have learnt to erm sample and make into food almost anything. Grass jelly anyone? Pig's blood curd? In China they have Pangolins etc in restaurants you can look at before erm making them to dishes. That's not for me, I tend to stick to what I know only. Fried rice, noodles and Roast meats. :) Heck if comes down to it, there's always KFC or McDs nearby!

Thats what my American friend and his wife say. They have become accustomed to what was in the US.

Actually the chinese food in China, here in Hong Kong is lot more different than what you get in the US...and UK by experience for me. Doesn't mean it is better here.

My mate who is from the US, says the differenece is so much as in the US the chinese food there has been localised to taste. But, he and his wife sometimes crave for what they had grown accustomed to in the US

Unfortunately, for me, outside of New York and New Jersey, a lot of what's served elsewhere in the US doesn't appeal to me. The American gravy on stir fry, I thought was just, umm nasty.

One thing I don't get in New Mexico however; is why it can be so difficult to get them to make a mongolian barbeque or something of the sort hot. Though they might be trying to localize it to a conception "Americans don't like hot food", the problem is that this is the desert south west. Practically every Mexican resturant around this area is hotter. Heck, even steak houses and Texas style resturants are hotter :D

Speaking of Hong Kong though... A surprising one, that I would have no way to confirm. The senior of my two Tai Chi teachers is half Italian and half Sicilian. Anyhow, around here, he doesn't care for much of the Italian food, stating emphatically for instance "marinara is not Italian sauce. My mother lived in Italy, and you're supposed to stew the tomatoes, etc..."

However, as it turns out, he doesn't mind the Italian food in Hong Kong (when he goes there to train with his sifu, actually Chung Tin, if the name will mean anything), and said it's rather quite good. Except for the fact that the people don't look Italian, one might not know they were in Italy with some of the Italian dishes he's gotten there. Hmm...

There are Fat Anglelos Italian chain here which according to my friend, it's as good as it gets to American Italian food.

Could be. I'm not sure of the differences because of how bastardized most of it is over here. I just kind of seperate it into the 4 food groups... Italian, Chinese, McDonald's and KFC.

Philippine National Anthem:

Lupang Hinirang

Bayang magiliw
Perlas ng Silanganan,
Alab ng puso,
Sa dibdib mo'y buhay.

Lupang Hinirang,
Duyan ka ng magiting,
Sa manlulupig,
Di ka pasisiil.

Sa dagat at bundok,
Sa simoy at sa langit mong bughaw,
May dilag ang tula
At awit sa paglayang minamahal.
Ang kislap ng watawat mo'y
Tagumpay na nagniningning,
Ang bituin at araw niya
Kailan pa ma'y di magdidilim.
Lupa ng araw, ng luwalhati't pagsinta,
Buhay ay langit sa piling mo;
Aming ligaya, na pag may mang-aapi
Ang mamatay nang dahil sa iyo.

Chosen Land(English Translation)

Beloved country,
Pearl of the Orient,
The heart's passion
In your bosom is ever alive.

Chosen Land,
You are the cradle of the brave.
To the conquerors
You shall never surrender.

Through the seas and mountains,
Through the air and your azure skies,
There is splendor in the poem
And song for dear freedom.

The sparkle of your flag
Is shining victory.
Its stars and sun
Forever will never dim.

Land of the sun, of glory, of our affection,
Life is heaven in your arms;
When someone oppresses you, it is our honor
To die for you.

English: Philippine Hymn

Land of the morning,
Child of the sun returning,
With fervor burning,
Thee do our souls adore.

Land dear and holy,
Cradle of noble heroes,
Ne'er shall invaders,
Trample thy sacred shores.

Even within thy skies and through thy clouds,
And o'er thy hills and seas.
Do we behold the radiance,
Feel the throb of glorious liberty.

Thy banner, dear to all our hearts,
Its sun and stars alight.
O, never shall its shining fields,
Be dimmed by tyrant's might!

Beautiful land of love, O land of light,
In thine embrace 'tis rapture to lie.
But it is glory ever, when thou art wronged,
For us, thy sons, to suffer and die.

Here is the South African National Anthem:

Nkosi sikelel' iAfrika
Maluphakanyisw' uphondo lwayo,
Yizwa imithandazo yethu,
Nkosi sikelela, thina lusapho lwayo.

Morena boloka setjhaba sa heso,
O fedise dintwa la matshwenyeho,
O se boloke, O se boloke setjhaba sa heso,
Setjhaba sa South Afrika - South Afrika.

Uit die blou van onse hemel,
Uit die diepte van ons see,
Oor ons ewige gebergtes,
Waar die kranse antwoord gee,

Sounds the call to come together,
And united we shall stand,
Let us live and strive for freedom,
In South Africa our land.

PS. You won't get any translation because I dont know most of the words mean. What a shame.

Lots of people still use it. I've heard of many people on this forum that also use it. And I have absolutely no problems with it.

What's the advantage of using FF.
