PowerDVD 7 has been released.
Some great new features and support for the following at Hardware level.
- MPEG-4 AVC (H.264)
- WMV-HD - high-definition video
- MPEG-2 HD - high-definition video
- Mini-DVD
- DTS Neo:6
- AAC decoding
Just a shame it crashes people's pcs when they try to play Xvids. LOL

Apart from that, looks like a steal for £50.
Freakin EH! I'm excited about this, PDVD is a great app.
Apaprently it cannot utilise until patched any HW acceleration by either NV or ATi ;

ffs, hope I haven't just blown £50 ....lol
Can't believe they still haven't sorted out this hardware acceleration issue.
It's been in the pipeline for like two years now.

The DVD playback IS "THE" BEST I have ever seen.
It blows nVidia's PureVideo out of the water by far.
Hardware acceleration for MPEG2 on this thing is simply AWESOME.

Hmm , seems to rocket to 99% CPU usage when trying to open an Xvid file with mad hard drive usage.
I have been using PDVD 4 for a while and have never seen any reaosn to upgrade. I mean who the hell cares if CPU load is at 4% vs 10% when wtaching a movie...

I do, because I can't play Xvids on this cos it shoves the CPU usage upto 99%.
Hmmm.....
Nero 7 , Power DVD 7 .....I see a pattern here.

You don't have to use PDVD to watch Xvids, just use Media Player or something...
I still like my nv pure video decoder. Quality is amazing now.

Downloaded the trial of this and have been using it for a week or so, its best dvd playback on pc I've seen. Excellent image quality, DTS playback is superb, may have to buy this one.

DVD Image quality is awesome. I am however, having the same problem playing XVid files, it hangs and hogs my CPU at 200,000% usage. :thumbdwn:

And you have to pay for the patch most probably as 'tis an enhanceme nt pack:

"An enhancement pack providing optimized H.264 performance for ATI® Avivo™ and NVIDIA® PureVideo™ graphics cards will be released later in the year."

Gib, me old mucker.....
Any luck on getting Xvids to work?
To me, Media playing software that cannot do Xvid is useless.
I think you need the Deluxe version for Divx support.

Divx runs fine on my deluxe versoin anyways. :D

Media Player is a pile of crap.
Unless ofcourse he's talking about Media Player Classic. :)
<--- Going back to PowerDVD 6.
Media Player is a pile of crap.
if you are talking about WMP I beg to differ. WMP 10 isn't bad at all if you have the appropriate codecs installed and I don't know if you've seen anything about the new beta for WMP 11 but that has a lot of people saying good things.
