how close would a Gainward 7900GT 512MB clocked at 580/1650 be to a 7900GTX 512MB card?

also is the same memory used on both cards?

well 7900gtx runs at 650/1600 but has tighter memory timings so the gtx would be ahead by a bit...

Plus the gtx has that bigass heatsink, i'd go with the gtx.
The gt uses slower memory.

yeah but the GTX costs more and im on abit of a budget at the mo and the smaller GT fits better in my shuttle without the huge heatsink.

I am pretty sure the Gainwards have a double heatsink that takes up two slots on the mobo anyway.

after looking more closely your right but they still look to be smaller than the dual slot coolers on its bigger brother the GTX.

Cooling: Fan (One-Slot)It has the dual slot back plate just like the 6800U did, and the heatsink looks pretty similar too...

Its an identical heatsink on the Goes Like Hell 580/1650 7900gt 512 as the Golden sample 550/1400 7900gt 512 which ive just RMA'd.

It has a DUAL slot backing plate with air holes in the lower part, I like this idea it makes the card very secure and the air holes are a nice addition, BUT the actual main fan/heatsink itself is just slightly higher than any other GT fan but its slightly wider, hold on ill post some screenies..

Has tasty circular cooling fins, good for heat dissipation i suppose

I think its longer, the reason I say that I has to move my harddisk to a lower slot so I could get the PCI-express 4 pin power in. I didnt with the regular 7900gt.

As you can see from the pic its not far off the end of my motherboard!

No very quiet, doesnt even make a racket on boot up like so many other cards do.

What sort of price? I think 280 for the Goes Like Hell version is that good it must be a misprice! Everywhere else charges 330 and for a GTX your looking at 380 -420 .

The Goes like hell may as well be a GTX its only 50mhz short on the core but 50mhz more on the memory :)

Yeah MG1973 just this second been checking on my order to make sure someone is in to get it, and guess what "pick in progress" arghhhhhhhhh I'd heard ebuyer do this, get in stock at great prices get enough orders in to be able to afford to buy stock in at those prices/or you see something else on the website when you realise that price is never going to be in stock!

BUT I didn't think they would show stock and let you pay for priority shipping? I cant see how it could get here for tomorrow unless its picked late tonight and dispatched last minute? I might ring them.

yes but these arent the "goes like hell" ones they are only golden samples clocked at 550/1400,they`ve done us over!

optimal overclock frequences using coolbits was only 578/765 which gave me 4635 points in 3dmark06 which was 200 lower than my normal 7900GT clocked at 550/850 and this card is noisy as hell seems like the fan is constantly running at %100.

gonna get on the phone to them now.

Your joking me. Are you sure its not a shipping error?

I won't be getting mine till tonight, so I think they will be closed. Let me know as soon as you can what they say,

I might take a screenshot of the site to prove they are misselling and go to trading standards if its not the "clearly stated" goes like hell version!
