recently stumled across this free program....it's a space simulation...you can look at stars, planets, galxies etc

Pretty neat, Wish you could see the surfaces of the planets though... just gets blurry for me when you zoom in.

Another one in a similar vein is Stellarium (http://stellarium.sourceforge.net/). It's more of a planetarium than a universe explorer, but still pretty slick.

Here is a free Space Shuttle simulator which is based on the Celestia engine.
