Is this really normal? I expected a bit more than that. Did an uninstall, rebotted, installed the latest betas from EVGA and tried 3dmark.

Thanks!

Seems normal give or take a little.

what was your 7800 clocked at, and what are your 7900's clocks?

And what is your CPU?

My CPU is a 3500+, running XP SP2, 7800Gt was *not* overclocked but my new 7900Gt card is running at 475/1360

Maybe its just time for a complete reinstall of XP?

I don't think you need to, i mean at least your score isn't lower, right? how much did your individual SM 2.0 and SM 3.0 scores go up? going from a 7800GT clocked at 470/1100, to a 7900GT at 500/1500, my SM 2.0 and 3.0 scores went up about 400 pts each, while my overall score went up 600 pts.

EDIT: and just to make sure, no programs were running in the background while you had 3DMark going, right? :) Maybe try another run after a reboot.

People really need to learn that 3dmarks mean nothing, they dont even reflect real-game performance...

Well, Im certainly not one of those 3DMark freaks, it was simply the only benchmark I had installed/configured properly after I installed my brand new 7900GT.

I did make one mistake. My score went up from:

3341 (7800GT) to
4009 (7900GT)

Good enough for me :)

Erm no offence but i beat that score with my 7800GT, although your 7900GT would almost certainly beat mine in real games. I wouldnt worry too much about 3dmark. Enjoy your new card.

Are you kidding me?

Do you really think you offend me because you say that you get a higher 3dmark score? That's just pathetic...

And your score really doesn't mean anything to me since your CPU and ram is clocked higher and therefor not good for comparison.

3dmark06 also weights in the cpu performance in the final score. My 7800GT (490/1150) with different cpu's gives these scores:

A64 3500+ gives 3850
A64 X2 4200+ gives 4400

the SM3/SM2 scores are the same with both cpu's (1780/1760).

I got about 1400 increase in 3D05 and 1500 in 3D06 the SLI 7800GT were clocked at 490/1200 and my 7900GT KO are clocked at 520/1540 but it has a delta of 20 ,so it is really 540/1540,but to me anyway my 7900GTs seem to run my games a lot smoother.

Way to go at not looking bothered then,:wtf: maybe you should have spent your money on a better cpu and ram then. If it doesnt matter to you then why are you coming on here b****ing about your score? Something else is your bottleneck, not your card. Maybe its a PEBKAC.:thumbdwn:
