Hey all,

Am thinking of buying an nForce2 MB with onboard RAID, but my hard drives are ATA 100 drives, and the nForce2 boards I've seen only have Serial ATA RAID. Does anyone know if one of those ABit Serillel ATA convertor thingies will allow me to use Serial ATA RAID with my standard ATA 100 drives??

Thanks in advance :D

True SerialATA drives are only a few weeks away. You can get them very very soon. Also WD announcing 10K RPM ATA DRIVE!??!?! (i have 15K SCSI so i don't really care :P)

I guess it depends on how badly you want to use serial ATA for RAID stuff. PCI IDE RAID controllers aren't too expensive right now, and with the current IDE-SATA adapters running around $20 to $30 each, it's probably cheaper just to get the PCI card if you already have the drives. (I already had the card, so my decision is made, at least until I replace my hard drives with newer ones, at which point I will buy SATA-based drives.)
