Sony Must match the price point of $299-$399 or they will lose the console wars. The prices that most people are guessing at are crazy. No one will pay $700.00 or more for a gaming console. I think it might be closer to $499.00
if its more expensive than that , I Will be very surprised and will wait for the PS3 to come way down in price before I buy one. Also will people have money left over for the PS3 AFTER Gas oil prices hit pockets even deeper?

I doubt they will lose anything besides however I think instead of MS and Nintendo being a distant second and third, there right in back of Sony in arms reach.

What is actually funny is Phil harrison criticized Microsoft for releasing 2 sku's. And now here are Sony doing the same. Makes me lol.

$499 and $599 PS3 price the biggest fear??? :rofl

What a load of nonsense!!!

I paid for my PS2 for £350 included delivery on ebay 4 years ago weeks away from Xmas. My maximum purchase for PS2 was £400 and nothing more than that amount!

£299 inc VAT for PS3 with 20GB HDD and £379 inc VAT for PS3 with 60GB HDD plus extras ports are right price for everyone who want to buy PS3 in UK. it in between what I bought for my PS2 so I will be happy try to grab PS3 for £400 maximum include delivery. :D

Im actually happy about the canadian prices. i was expecting that it would be how the xbox 360 was priced in canada (399US = 499Cad). I feel like im saving 50-70$. Im returning my xbox after E3 unless Microsoft has something that can change my mind. I want japanese games.

I would keep it, There are acouple good Japanese Titles releasing someday...

Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey which are created by Mistwalker Studio (many of the people in this studio were the key members from the team who created Chrono Trigger).

You also have Enchanted Arms which is looking great. Saddly these are the only three Japanese RPGs that look interesting for the X360.

I just wonder if the titles from Mistwalker will be Exclusive, I haven't heard any definite confirmation but with the lack of interest in japan for the X360, developers might port it over to the PS3 later to get a larger sales if it sells well.

with the xbox 360 not doing so well in japan, I'm afraid that microsoft would give up and focus on North American gamers that are more into action games. that would mean 10 halo-type games and 1 RPG a year.

I find it funny that the consoles are such opposites. Sony needs more American support while MS needs more Japan support.

I dunno if Sony needs that much more American support. In the beginning of the conference when they showed the number of PS2s sold in the US, it was way higher than Japan.

despite the price being high, do you realize how big of a fanbase sony has in America, I guarentee people will pay that much for it.

But companies like ID Software, Valve, Bioware and other big developers not announcing anything related to the PS3 is very dissappointing.

There's a difference though. One of the Xbox360 SKUs doesn't have an HDD.

This one you're getting one just not as big which doesn't really split the market as much parsay.

EDIT: Gah just got online today and saw the Core PS3 is missing some pretty good things. That sucks.

Well ID and Valve are both First Person shooter developers.... so, yeah although PS3 can do it, I think xbox has more of that audience due to halo. Plus gabe used to work for MS, so thats an easy choice for him im sure.

Then why wouldn't they want to release on the PS3? Why go up against Halo when you can complete in a lesser populated market? Sony has many fine FPS titles but nothing like Half-Life or Doom 3.

Well, I actually want to see a Timesplitters on nextgen hardware then those games...

Magus there's obviously no real answer to why they don't develop for PS3. There could be a number of things, One reason is it might be easier to develop/port a Windows game via 360, i.e same reason Condemned/Fear are on the 360... There are many more reasons, or could be as simple as MS putting an influence whether its financial or not on the companies to develop for 360. Again, we'll never know.

A single title isn't everything though... ID Software's next IP better make its way to the PS3 :o
