Currently running a gf3, I am more than ready for an upgrade. But im not sure whether I should go for the tried and proven 9700 pro, or wait and see how the R350 will fare. Also it depends on how long till the R350 ships... if it's still a while I'll go with the 9700 pro.

Appreciate any suggestions and especially any tid bits on when the R350 is gonna ship. (I heard something about march but im not sure.)

It all really depends what ur plans are. I recently bought a 9700 pro from a gf3. The way i c it my 9700 pro isnt going to be the fastest card on the market in awhile but i think it will be able to keep up with the games that are coming out throughout at least the 2Q. As soon as it is apparent to me that my card cant perform at the level that i would like i will upgrade again.

....but after using me GF3 (240/530) for so long I was kind of in the same dilema, but I had sworn never to give ATI another penny 'til they showed me they were gonna deliver on their hype and improve their drivers & attitude.

So they sent me a 9500 Pro to try out and play with, and it was a freaking WORLD of difference 'tween me GF3 and that thing! I'm sending it back on Monday, but then I am definately picking me up one of those things!

I'm looking at the either a 9500 Pro by VisionTek after their new ad campaign (Go to www.visiontek.com , you'll understand. ;) ), or a pre-modded saphire 9500 from over here (pre-modded Saphire 9500). I'll gladly pay someone else to mod it for me since they have a guarantee. :)

But I would definately get as good a one as you can get and enjoy it. Actually getting to USE AA & AF in gamse with it and not only is it "playable", it's beautiful!

A seriously great little card! Get, you'll like. :)

oh, oh, oh! i vote for the premodded Sapphire r9500Pro. i'm very tempted to pick one up myself. if i knew a better card for the price isn't going to come out before Doom3 I would order one right now. as it is i'm interested in what RV350 will bring to the table, i think it will be out sooner than Doom3.

woops (lol) way to forget one of the most important specs... 1.8 P4...

I'd really get the 9700 pro asap... i guess it all comes down to the ship date for the R350 (and how good it turns out to be)

Wierd, im in the same dilemma as u are. Got about the same comp specs too:

P4 2.0ghz 400FSB
800mhz 512mb RDRAM
80gig 7200rpm HD
Geforce 3 ti 200

Im thinking about getting a 9700pro but i'd be kinda pointless if the R350 is goin to be on the shelves in a month. I rather wait, anyone have any ideas when the R350 is going to be directly available to consumers?? If its like 2-3 months, i'll just upgrade now.

If ya got 300 bucks sitting on the kitchen counter let a little pocket change make it 400 by April and pick up a 9900Pro.

Otherwise wait and get a nice Ti 4600 for 150 bucks come May.

The 9500 Pro will hit 150 before the 4600 does...and it's faster.
