...

I don't think MS would have a free service, in which case developers would probably hop onto the live service to get some moolah, you pay $50 to MS a year just to play online, no thanks :thumbdwn:

I agree. I won´t pay a cent for this unless it offers something reasonable.

What you don't know is that its mandatory service when using Windows Vista... Windows Live, play games online for only $50 a year!

Live offers enough added value to justify the 50/year. Live isn't just "playing games online". Anyone with Live knows this. Anyone without is a fanboy and should STFU.

I love Xbox Live but a service like it on the PC is useless considering we get most of that already. Think the only thing that would be great is an enbeded buddylist within windows. Would finally create a standard... I hate having so many messenger apps on my pc.

Well if thats really the case there are only two options for me at this point.

1. Hasta la Vista
2. (pirate) Vista aquí vengo

Mind you, I had exactly the same opinion about Steam and eventually ended up accepting/buying it anyway. The one thing that annoys me is that MP gaming on PC has been free (minus MMORPG which I don´t play) ever since the first PC game had MP. I´ll get a X360 soon and I have no interest in Xbox Live, Marketplace and the MS points thing. 98% of my gaming is SP only, and its not just worth it, even if its 50/year.

It would be nice to have the gap between PC and the Console bridged. But it needs to be made free all around. As much as we already pay our ISP for our connections. As PC gamers we really don't need another thing to pay for.

I'd pay to smoke console fanboys at all thier favorite FPS's on my PC with cross platform multiplayer.
