View Full Version : Is there a way to make the fan on my 7900 GT spin at the same speed at all times?

I was just wondering if there was a way to make the fan on my 7900 GT spin the same speed at all times.

Or is there a way I can make it spin a certain speed in 2D and a certain speed in 3D?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Rivatuner *should* allow you to force the fan to run at a given speed at all times. I say "should" because the 7900 GT has a more basic cooler than all other 7800/7900 series cards and I'm not 100% sure its speed control is as flexible as it is on other 7800/7900's.

Which 7900GT do you have? On most of them, the fans are at 100% all the time. The only ones I've seen that don't are the eVGA 7900GT CO SC cards.

Which is why I'm probably going to step up from my 7900GT CO to the 7900GT CO SC card. My shuttle would be dead silent if it wasn't for this card.

Note, I was able to force the current version of rivatuner to detect my card. When I did that, the fan speed sliders had no affect. Unwinder has mentioned that the version in beta testing can't control the 7900GT fan speeds (except for the eVGA 7900GT CO SC)

In that case that likely means that there is no built-in speed controller on the 7900 GT. Not a big surprise considering the spartan cooler it comes with.
