Not voting on the poll because I'm not sure yet. I already have a 360 and at best I will buy one more console. The Wii looks like it could be cool with the controller and a lot of fun for little investment, but that lack of HD is troubling; if 16:9 support was mandatory for games I'd be closer to saying I'd buy one, but as it stands I fear being stuck playing 4:3 SD games on my widescreen set with the Wii. PS3 due to its insane price tag and similarity in hardware capabilities to the 360 will not be an option for me until it drops in price a few times and has a lot of games on it that aren't on 360.

Not decided yet.

Some Nintendo franchises interest me but -honestly- part of me wants that the controller scheme fails miserably because, otherwise, Microsoft and Sony and everyone else on the planet will come out with similar junk. I don't want to spend the rest of my gaming life waving a controller like a dust buster. Games are already getting too much arcadish for my taste. If anything, I'd like to see more games where thinking is more important than timed and precise execution.

/shrugBAD example. In Tetris a timely execution of moves is as much important as understanding the pattern and anticipating the next.

All the game types are becoming heavily action oriented nowadays bacause that's all the skill expected from the average computer user. I've grown up with text adventures from the 80's where people were required not only to figure what action should have been taken next, but also the correct choice of words to describe that action. In contrast, today's games seem to me bland and difficult at the same time.

Bland because they offer no stimula to the brain, everything is so plain obvious, there are so little consequences for choices and choices are rarely given. Difficult because I really can't fit into the "fast and furious button masher type". Even arcades seems less fun nowadays. Either you'll learn at heart some long and difficult sequences of commands or you're stuck staring at the screen hopelessy.

Yes, even Tetris looks amazingly intellectual for today lowly standards.

No, but most of my friends that have kids are mostly interested in the Wii. When we were looking at the games available locally, Nintendo had the best selection of family/kid friendly games so unless that changes with the Wii, I'm pretty sure that's what they'll get.

I've grown up with text adventures from the 80's where people were required not only to figure what action should have been taken next, but also the correct choice of words to describe that action.Even the old King's Quest series could get frustrating at times if you had trouble figuring out exactly how to phrase the command or click on the right series of things at the right time. True text adventures like Enchanter are dead and buried aren't they? I remember when Prodigy first came out and I signed up for it. There were several online text games I got into for a while there. Eventually I just gave up though and got Wing Commander. lol

I'll be buying a Wii. Keep in mind though that I wen't to go see Resident Evil: Apocalypse in theaters just so I had the right to bash it.
