i use a product called milliput, its a two part epoxy putty

Aaah, I remember the days of milliput. I used to build a lot of models, mostly scenery, for Warhammer games. I still have 800 double poly tiles painted and decorated with rivers, buildings, and trees sitting up in the attic. But, alas, the vast armies of Nippon have bit the dust and chaos won the day. Kudos to entropy. :)
