Here are the figures released by NPD:

Top 10 Games (by revenue)
1. PS2 Kingdom Hearts II
2. 360 Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
3. 360 Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
4. 360 Major League Baseball 2K6
5. 360 Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
6. 360 Tomb Raider: Legend
7. PS2 The Godfather
8. PS2 MLB '06: The Show

10. PS2 Tomb Raider: Legend

Other 360 titles that sold well are Fight Night Round 3 (ranked 12th), Call of Duty 2 (ranked 15th after all these months), Far Cry Instincts and Blazing Angels. Surprisingly, Final Fantasy for 360 is at number 22

Now, here are the hardware sales (with revenue):

360 - 295,381 / $113,592,800
PSP - 162,438 / $36,861,950
PS2 - 206,995 / $29,239,730
NDS - 138,427 / $19,049,660

I don't have figures for Europe but I keep hearing rumors that the Xbox 360 is doing surprisingly well in countries strongly dominated by Sony the last generation.

I have a m8 that are working in "Elgiganten" a big Northern European electronics chain. In the shop where he work they have sold about 10 to 50 x360's every week the last 3 weeks.
Also he reposts the interrest is big.

Keep in mind that NPD covers about 60% of the market, thus the numbers are not accurate but the trend is pretty clear.

PeterJensen: yep, here in Italy we never really suffered from shortages, partly because the Sony brand is still strong and people are still looking at the Xbox with diffidence and partly because we had a steady supply coming.

In the shop I usually go for my purchases, they sold 40 XBox360 (36 of which premiums) at launch day and one week later they already received a second shipment (this time mostly cores). It really struck me when I heard of the severe shortages in the US and I've come to the conclusion that Microsoft is heavily betting on Europe by diverting most of the units produced in this market.

Up until late april only Premium packs where hard to find but now there's a plenty flow of them and I've already seen bundles like console + crappy launch title (usually Wasteland or Gun) at the same price of the console alone.

Yesterday I was at the usual store and there were a few people playing at xbox stands (including a bunch of teen females playing with Kameo; good sign that the demographic is expanding) but none with the PS2. Which is odd because kids usually go play some FIFA -insert random number here- on PS2 at any hour of the day till the shop closes.

Xbox 360 seems to be doing pretty well now that supply isn't an issue. I'm surprised at the PSP numbers though, didn't think it would come in ahead of the DS anytime soon, especially when that was the month Brain Age was released.

Maybe a lot of gamers are waiting for the DS lite

I hope the PSP does really well if good stuff keeps coming out. More stuff like LocoRoco and syphon filter will guarantee its success.

The GBA is still selling like hot cakes. Man that thing is a cash cow.

Also the PS2 is still selling in quite strong numbers for this stage in its lifecycle. Xbox 360 needs a super strong christmas to really gain marketshare.

PS2's numbers are kinda surprising. I didn't think that many folks were still interested in it. Xbox360 is doing well but that doesn't really surprise me. I'd like to see the numbers for 360 when Gears of War is out.:)

Microsoft is aiming at 5-5.5M consoles by the end of the second quarter (31 June). They announced they had shipped 3.2M by the end of march, thus the goal seems achievable if they keep up the production

I've digged some more interesting numbers:

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter - 630,000
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - 510,000

These are US/NPD total unit sales up to the end of April. Impressive for a userbase which hasn't reached yet 2M

I would like to see worldwide sales ,before making any opinion about how good or bad is doing the Xbox360. Is very well known that US market always embrace MIcrosoft consoles. This is not a short race ,but a very long one. The winner could not be declared until at least 3 years from console launch. My best guess is that Microsoft momentum will end abruptly as soon and the competition shows up. ending in third place . The real comparison in sales will be once SOny and Nintendo have in the market an alternative . right now the old PS2 is the only competition the XBox360 have and the last worldwide numbers i saw in sales showed the PS2 being on top.I was very confident that sony will be unmatched this generation but after seeing Nintendo very clever marketing of their wireless controls im not sure anymore. Since Nintendo have great possibilities to steal the show since their console will be very cheap and thier strong advertising appeals to a much much wider community (of non-gamers).. including people that never played a game before but that now my give it a try ,just for fun.

I don't think that's the only thing you're "not sure" of.

yeah, i think you hit the nail on the head. What's the point of buying a DS, when you know that the upgraded version is comming out in less than a month. Once the DS lite hits, I think you'll see those numbers x3 or x4.
