The currents mods I am using and a few recommendations below.

Definitely recommend these mods:

Oscuro's Oblivion overhaul, a must have. Gets rid of a lot of levelling based nuisances.
Darker Oblivion. Makes the nights and dungeons in Oblivion a whole lot darker. It forces you to use torches or spells. Also makes those places look a whole lot more creepy.
Deadlier Traps. Certain traps such as the roof crusher and swinging blades now instantly kill you.
Deadlier Sneaking + Attack and Hide. Enemies now have to find you before your sneak mode is compromised.
No Psychic Guards. Guards dont just materialize anymore the minute you commit a crime. If they hear an alert they actually run towards you.
No Guildmaster kicks. If you become the guildmaster you no longer get kicked from your own guild.
Clearer water. Got it from here, awesome makes swimming a lot more fun.
Bulky Nords and Bulky Orcs. These two races now are bulked up and no longer skinny.
Real Umbra. Makes the umbra look like it was in Morrowind, ie a two handed claymore. Nice looking model too.

Other mods I have:

Visual Enchantments. Makes the soul trap glow and other enchantment glows look a whole lot better.
Severians Katana's. Adds a whole lot of katana's and dai-katana's too the game. Similiar to Morrowind.
Saint Hiryu's Artifacts. Black daedric armor, nuf said.
Improved Imperial Dragon Armor. No more disappointing armor for completing the game.
All armor. All armor in the game is now available. ie. Imperial guards armor etc.
Faster Mercantile levelling.
Aznars Vampire mod.

Oscuro's mod a must have, doubt it, just makes the game easier for all the babies crying 'a rat kills me'.

Oscuros IS a must Have Mod .... no more lvl 10 arena champions ... no more guards with lvl 50 .... the game become much more realistic ... why they need me if all guards have the same lvl ?? all guards have the power to kill a Dragon with clean hands ??:thumbdwn:

Oscuros Rulez !!!:D

PS:. Try to get in the arena at lvl 1 and become the arena champion ...;)

Thats not true, it makes the game a whole lot more difficult. Rats remain rats, however you are no longer protected by the leveled monster list. Guards are all at a fixed level and npc's do not progress with you every time you level up.

Try running into a level 38 Ogre on your way to Weynon Priory while you are only level 1 and being chased back to the Imperial City. :D

Also daedric weapons and armor in this mod are truly rare. No longer does every bandit have a complete set of daedric armor. It does a lot to Oblivion and can enchance the gameplay a lot.

I like adding the following

General ambience:
Harvest (gets rid of plant models after harvesting, or replaces them with a harvested looking model, depending on the version you use)
Real Size Rats
Seasonal Weather (w/ More Sky Climates)
Sunlight Interiors
Natural Environments
Get Wet (makes rain actually effect player and NPC textures)
Advanced Water
Darker Nights and Darker Dungeons
Illumination Within (adds scripted lights to the outside of windows when people are home during the night, but still awake)
Turn off lights
Attack and Hide
Axebane Hunters

Visual Enhancements
Grass Without Tiling Texture
Landscape LOD Replacement Textures Border regions
Landscape LOD Texture Replacement (I have been switching back and forth With CaptainKill's)
Landscape LODNormalMap Fix
Short Grass (it is slightly easier to find stuff in the grass and a decent perf boost)
Parallax Map Additions Sets for Prison, Sewers, Ayelid Ruins, Burma, and Castles
Better Amulets
Better Rings
Better Gold
Natural Faces (there are a few face texture replacement/enhancement mods and I can't quite decide which one yet)
Visually Enchanted

Also there was this one I found that added Platinum Coins and different Gems to the game but I can't remember it's name.

I'm starting a new game using Oscuro's, and so far I like it. Does anyone know of a good character leveling mod to go with it? I was using Balor's with a previous character, but I don't know if its compatable, and it would probably level too fast to be good with Oscuro's.

Btw does any know where you can download saved games, and play a character a couple of levels up?

GCW has a complete save game.

Maybe cheats would work also.

They list a couple that adds skill points and stuff.

It fixes the well know bug of Fathis disppearing when you progress thru the thief guild.

I'm using Obscuro's Overhaul, definitly improves the game a lot. Also using Kobu's leveling system, really improves the way you level (I hate the default system). Will probably start using more mods as I find them.

Im playing the game stock

Ill probably start a new character with the Obscuro mod

05-25-06, 10:08 AM
is there a "make the game interesting again" mod??

im trying to get back into it after playing some shooters and TBH im finding it rather dull.

05-25-06, 10:20 AM
Im using a bunch...

My texture packs and water mod.
Cheydinhal Pet Shop
Less expensive equipment on bandits mod
Horse Armor
BTMod (for interface)
and a bunch more... I cant even remember.

I put in 80 hours of gameplay and probably 80 more of testing for benchmarking and textures, so Im a bit burned out on it. I'll get back into it later after I beat Call of Cthulhu and maybe HL2 Episode 1.

hah... i just installed a mod like that last night.... except for it has a "large" version :p . I find myself looting all the female bandits clean now. Even if they have an iron breastplate I loot it. Pretty funny stuff :D

A couple of LOTR style mods I have been using lately. All based on the Witch King of Agmar. :D

The helmet:

The sword:

I modded the sword so that it is single handed, fun times poking people to death with it.:D

06-09-06, 01:31 PM
"Nude Topless Texture Revamp"

I actually don't use that one anymore, I use Eshme's Better bodies. It's my calliong card... all females are left naked after I kill them! :D

But, Yeah I recommend all the mods Im using. I don;t consider any of them cheats. Just expands and rebalances the game. I hated how bows were so dam weak originally and how weapons felt unrealistic.

Here's my new list:

Also Immersive Interface, minimizes and customizes the HUD a fair bit:
