View Full Version : Most Popular Games?

As title insinuates, where can I find a list of the currently most played games, whether it's an SP or MP? It should be a big list featuring many titles, from Singleplayers like Oblivion, to MP's like F.E.A.R and MMO's like WoW. A list that even covers free games (like Enemy-Territory). Console Multi and Single players are of course acceptable. However, even a very partial but informative list would be great.
Any input would be grateful.
Thanks in advance
Gamespot would be a decent start .. they have lists for top 10 games for each platform.
Gamerankings is worth checking aswell.

Thanks, that's a good start, but I was talking about something more like Gamespy's stats (http://archive.gamespy.com/stats/). As you can see, it serves me pretty good, but it's limited to MP only games and Gamespy network only. What about older/SP/MMO games?
Thanks again :nana2:

For MMO games you can look here: http://www.mmogchart.com/
Xfire also tracks games but most are multiplayer (since that's what people use it for) http://www.xfire.com/
No real tracking of single player games, you could look at gamespot. Create a list of popular games and check the "now playing" number. Although it's a very rough estimate.

I think pc.1up.com has something like a ranking system too...

I find it educational to Google around for "bestselling games" or something like that, there are league tables published every month. Generally the top-selling games are Sim Barbie, or some golf game, etc. Makes me smile when I get told by some kid that just because I don't play Far Cry, or whatever the latest l33t FPS happens to be, that I'm somehow not representative of the gamer market :)
I play Counter Strike 1.6 and Oblivion. No other games, just play those. You get great graphics and a fun game with oblivion, and a fast paced FPS in CS 1.6.
Ugh, the most popular fps is Counter Strike, and Counter Strike Source.. I wish everyone would just move on! Then again, just like in real life, I don't care for lots of people that play CS, and don't mind them being stuck there either.
However, I'm guilting of playing CS S.. I seem to once in awhile go back to it for some odd reason. Its a cruel addiction.
