I am sure by now you have seen the hardware requirement of windows vista from M$.
what features does G80 add to 7900 that's significant for windows vista aero?

None. Areo requires PS2.0 only (IIRC), so a 7900 will be able to display it just fine.
Yup, nothing. Aero does not use any DX10 effects.

The aero look is not the important thing.
The deal is the DX10 (Direct X 10) will support only a few cards, Microsoft express if a card does not meet all the features will by out of the list.
Now cards from AGP to PCI express lacks on some features because maybe are not gaming intented but with the DX10 that is going to change.
