First of all, I highly recommend everyone interested in this topic to read this article at Salon. (http://www.salon.com/tech/feature/2003/02/01/file_trading_manifesto/index.html?x) It's a great article on the topic of P2P and the future of the music industry.
Now, the question is, would you pay for a Napsterish service if it was $5 a month and available worldwide?

I would pay for it.....if the selection was good enough (every damn group preferably).
If this was to work every group, band and ****ty pop "queen" would have to be included:cool:

I would but only if it were like you said extremely high quality and without DRM. The selection would have to be exceptional as well.

That Salon.Com article is absolutely BRILLIANT! :D
And that speculation of record companies getting swallowed up by software companies is dead on balls accurate. If you don't believe so, then you're listing to MIDI music instead of Autograph's "Turn Up The Radio" while barreling down the roads in Vice City!! :afro:
I wouldn't, for many reasons. I wouldn't like any kind of high-quality selection. For several reasons:
-High quality is subjective ( I hate almost every rock, pop, ever made up to today)
-How would they know if a music that would be trade with other person would be high quality ? Big brother ?

This all depends..I would definitely pay if was like the old NAPSTER..
It seems all these P2P programs now-a-days can be a hassle to get the song your looking for..Especially if its qued by 100 people..Also would depend on how good the service is..:bleh:

We'd have to see what kind of services something like this could offer, then I'd make my choice.

yes, but only if they offer good quality encodes(ie no 128kbps bs). and selection would matter too.

Doesn't it still give someone control over what we hear, and what musicians can spread?
Isn't it still overpriced for what it is? If I were to join the BMG music club I could get more music than I want for less than $5 a month on cd in a nice little package!
Mp3? Why charge more for that than cd's? On top of that, I'm looking to DTS audio cd's which is a progression, not a backstep. There are already a lot of DTS cd's available for download for *free.
Michelle Branch has a cd released that is download only... guess how much it costs.... $21.99! Screw her! I don't want to listen to money grubbing bi0tches like that... Besides, I mostly listen to the radion now... which btw has always been free!

I wouldn't mind paying 5 bucks a month for unlimited downloads, but the network would have to really work. Not give me bull**** errors like more sources as kazaa does.
