Ok I have a IC7 Abit Motheboard, And was giving it to a friend, So I put a hardrive with a 160 gig segate., and windows XP SP1 on the cd, So when in the bios it reads 160 gig like it is but windows only see's 131gigs Is this bios related?, :)

ntfs takes up a bit of space too but i dunno 30gb off seems a little high

You should have over 150GB at the minimum even using NTFS. Could be a partition (that is easy to check in Windows drive management). Something is taking up a sizeable chunk of your drive.

well he should have around 149GB i think but anyways yeah check ur disk management

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management

hmmm ive been following this thread since i seem to have the same problem too. I checked disk management and i found out i have 21.06 GBs unallocated disk space while i have 127.99 GBs NTFS (160 GB harddrive). How do i fix that?

hmmm ive been following this thread since i seem to have the same problem too. I checked disk management and i found out i have 21.06 GBs unallocated disk space while i have 127.99 GBs NTFS (160 GB harddrive). How do i fix that?
thats exactly what it says in disk Management 127.99 same thing 21.06 unallocated too, What do we do?:(

Partion Magic resize partions without deleting data :DYep I have partiton magic 8 and the 21mb unallocated I made as primary another partition then I mergeged them together now have 149 gigs it sees, so everthing is cool now thanks. forgot I had this partion magic and it's pretty easy to use also:D

Yeah that sounds better. My 160GB WD shows as 149GB. :thumbsup:

I've had a 120GB with 111 GB free. over 150GB for a 160GB HDD is a dream and a half. 131 is low but 150 is outrageous.(bs2)(bs2)(bs2)

Well, I was off some on the 150GB for a 160GB drive but that was not really the point I was trying to make. But a good catch nevertheless.
