I am thinking about migrating from my FujitsuSiemens P20-2 (20.1", 1600x1200) LCD to FujitsuSiemens P24-1W (24", 1920x1200) LCD.

But I am afraid about how well current games support widescreen panels.

With 1600:1200 I can play all new games in native resolution, which looks best, but have no idea how many games actually do support 1920x1200. Dithering always looks awful..

This is a list of games I own and play: http://hulan.cz/temp/games.png

Almost every modern game supports widescreen gaming and even if some older games don't there are some tweaks that help. You should check www.widescreengamingforum.com (http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/) for more info.:)

Battlefield2 still has broken FOV support. Same thing for Serious Sam 2. Most of the games I play are fine though. Even X3:Reunion finally got true widescreen support about a month or so ago. That game looks AWESOME.

Well, if you get a 24" CRT, then gaming is no problem @ any res. I play all my games @ 1680*1050, because below that, pixels become too big for it to have premium fidelity. But I've gamed as low as 1280*(whatever it is for 16:10) just fine, and you do get used to the larger pixels after a while. But there are tradeoffs on every monitor for lowering res. I remember on my old 19" 1280 looked fantastic, 1152 looked great too, but anything below 1024, I could notice the enlarged pixels. @ 640*480 it looked pretty grainy. But anyways, my x1900xtx has no problem with 1680, in oblivion or otherwise :) 1920*1200 looks the best, but I don't need to sacrifice th performnace; I'd rather turn up AA or crank settings. BTW CRT is the famous GDM-FW900 by Sony.

GDM-FW900 > ALL

I love mine, Every game I play I set to 1920x1200 (16:10), its just great. If a game doesn't naturally support widescreen, many will allow you to hack them. I know swat wouldn't so I just hacked the cfg file.
