Hmm...

``We would be delighted to work with Microsoft on the next Xbox, but we are a company with many opportunities,'' Huang said.

Other opportunities? The article says nVidia is trying to get the PS3 contract, but is unlikely to get it. Their main reason for not being too interested by the XBox 2 is that MS doesn't seem to want to put as much of a budget in it.

What other possibilities exist?
GameCube 2 contract? Seems unlikely, Nintendo wouldn't even put as much as MS.

My guess is nVidia prefers to remain out of the Console market until their NV40 architecture is ready. The NV40 is probably going to be even more flexible than the NV30. That means a Console derivative would be a lot easier.

A contract for a low-end console such as a GBA would make sense, however. Something like a lower clocked NV34 would work great for such a thing.

Don't forget they might put SoundStorm in a PCI card...as Philips doesn't seem to be too interested in the sound card market anymore...there's some room left open.

They want M$ to work to get a contract with them this time rather than the other way round. They got sucked in, chewed up and spat out by the first Xbox project and I doubt they'll want to go through the same thing again.

They could make a killing in the sound card market, so many people are disillusioned with Creative's ropey drivers and support policies which Nvidia could easily beat. Who else is there, really? Hercules is the only other big gaming name now. They've proved they can make great audio already, time to roll it out for everyone... interesting that the integration happens in the opposite order compared to graphics cards.

they don't want to spend man-power on a crappy green plastic box which is a mock to all things that PCs are. They're gonna spend their time on the nv35 and nv40...something they messed up on with the nv30. They were so busy with that plastic green ****box that they didn't work hard enough on their graphics cards. Thatll change this year for sure. Nvidia doesn't like to lose customers to ATI.....I'm sure they're working extra hard to make up for all the things that we're complaining about with the nv30 like slow AA and AF and lower quality AA and AF. I guess we'll have to see. All I know is that I'm not buying a graphics card till the fall......see who ends up on top then.

And all I know is that the NV35 vs R400 fight could be very interesting, although I'd guess right now that the R400 at least has a very slight performance lead.

IMO, it doesn't make sense for nVidia to focus on consoles before the NV40. The NV40, just like the R400 ( and maybe even more, who knows ) is a lot more flexible ( the NV30's amazing flexibility will sound like crap when compared to the NV40 )

That means nVidia could easily transform it into a console part. A lot more easily than for the NV2A
