Hey d00dz. I just recently snagged a Ti4200 and I have not been able to get UT to run period. I have tried several driver sets, a reinstall, a format and just about everything else I could think of. It will not run in ANY mode, including software.
Dammmit.........I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed Unreal Tournament. It is driving me insane...
Have any of you had this problem?
I am running XP Pro w/NTFS
MSI KT3
MSI GF4 Ti4200
Are you running in OpenGL with the new OpenGL renderer?

Edit the unrealtournament.ini file manually.
use d3d.
Did that and got RUNE to work on winxp

guys I've talked to gib a few times about this one, he says it doesn't wrk using any api. He's also reformatted, reinstalled and repatched the game but it still crashes when he tries to open it. weird
i dont kno about u but imo ut is a classic and it already has its own reserved space on my hard drives with its mods and all (or most of it). i would go ballistic if i couldnt get it to run with my new graphics card upgrade
if u have any other ut or unreal based engine games, try installing them and see if they work with your new ti4200...
ut may not need directx 8.1 or 8.1b but i think the ti4200 does in order to work properly, i kno for some reason my siluro ti4200 did, that was strange...
or maybe u just need to configure your unrealtournament.ini

Lol, I can't give it away, I was just joking. Glide was awesome for UT though.

Good one. I was in heaven when I ran that game at 1600x1200 for the first time with incredible results, as friends could barely run it at 1280x1024 with the GTS. ;)

Do you have another copy of UT you can try to install? Maybe your discs are scratched and some of the data is corrupted. That happened to me when I got Q3A. The disc was defective and causing a myriad of problems when all my other games ran perfectly. I got my hands on a new Q3A CD and all was well.
UT runs perfectly on my system - 1600x1200 w/8x aniso gives me 85-100 fps with the 30.30 drivers and RivaTuner's OGL patch script.

That's a possibility
as for MY ut cd..
it was cracked on one side
the disc had a big snap going from the center to the left side.
Amazingly, it installed till 96% complete...
Then I got a cyclic redundancy check error
using clonecd on it fixed the problem.
I was amazed to say the least
As for you gibby, have you tried older cards?

Useing drivers 29.40 Unreal Tournamen works without anyproblems useing OpenGL also will attach ini file if anyone need ;) also with better textures from 2nd CD , als update your Unreal to newest patch
I presume you've got all the latest patches and what-not for UT installed? I tried to run the game out the box on my Ti4400 and it totally bummed out on me all the time. One of them bigass error boxes that take up the whole screen.

Just for kicks, i tried it with your INI, and same thing. Crashes on startup, right after the engine loads and it flips screens to the intro.

why don't you post that pic you showed me Gib, showing where it crashes...

Gib do you overcloak anything in your system , it could be ram defective had similar problems before just a though
it may be stuck in GLIDE mode which i not supported by GF4 cards. Try manually setting the unrealtournament.ini file to Direct3d or Opengl mode. There should also be a setup.exe in the unrealtounament/system folder that'll do it for you.

Did you say you made a copy of it because the first one was cracked,it may be that it did'nt get it back to perfectly normal,so that might be it, because I run UT in DX, or OGL in witch is what I run it in at 1600*1200*32 with the 436 patch and I don't even need the cd no more.
