I take it since these are for sale now that they fixed all of the problems with the initial 2407s?

No VGA is a drawback... difficult to connect two computers...
But the new Dell design is hot.
Umm, it has VGA, DVI, component, and s-video inputs...and 4 USB ports.

K, on the Dell.com page it has no VGA and on the Dell.ch page it has :P

And DailyTech says this:

We have to wait and see.
Umm, the dell.com page says it has VGA...mind you, the dell.com page is all screwed up because some of the specs are for the 2007 rather than the 2407. I think they just copied the page but didn't change all the specs...like native resolution and brightness. Check out the thread on the 2407 on widescreengamingforum.com. Tons of people who already have theirs are using VGA because it was giving less colour banding then DVI. There are 5 inputs. VGA, DVI, component, s-video, and composite.

No problemo ;)

It's all about the stand^^

Btw England for world cup 2006!
Lol, yeah that's pretty much the reason I am waiting for the 2407 rather than getting a 2405. It's so much better looking.

Yeah, there is a new revision out (A1) which has been fixed. The colour banding and the blury text issues are completely gone. Those were the only 2 big issues with it. The other, lag on the component input, is not really that bad. It's better than the lag on the 2405 and on the samsung 244t. Other than that, there are no other problems with it. I can't wait for it to be released in Canada.

Some people have ordered them in the US, and they are already shipped. Even though it says "estimated ship date: June 16" they ordered one and their order status says "shipped". So with any luck they will get them really soon, and report back that the ones they got are in fact the fixed versions not the old ones.

Actually the revision is A02

The firmware flash began before these started selling in the U.S. If the bios is A02, your gold. If it isn't, follow the instructions in my sticky.

Weird, they still refuse to do anything about the 06 line of televisons that are borked. I guess since no tech website cried about it every day sigh.

Whoa, A2 already?!? That's even better I guess. Everyone in the UK and Japan are getting the A1 version. I guess they made another for the US release.

I had the barest touch on a defective 2405, 0 on the replacement.

Did you measure it? Or is this just your impression? Because the lag isn't huge...it's like 40ms which is pretty much not noticable.

So outside the HDCP support why is this going to be better to get than the 2405? It has a stated lower max resolution of 1680x1050 (1920x1200 on the 2405), lower contrast ratio of 600:1 (1000:1 on 2405), lower brightness of 300 cd/m2 (500 on the 2405). It also has the same 12ms response time - maybe they posted the wrong specs as some have mentioned? I have been around HDTV enough to understand that sometimes specs like these are inaccurate but since these are both Dell products I can't see it being that far off from the truth.

Yeah, they have the wrong specs posted...I think they just copied the specs page for the 2007 and didn't change them. Stupid Dell employees :D

The 2407 is actually:

1920x1200
1000:1 contrast ratio
500 cd/m2
6ms response time (g2g)
HDCP
Looks way nicer :)

So mostly the same, just faster response time and HDCP. And the new look. Pretty much the reason I'm waiting for it is because of the new look. I can't stand those fugly old dell monitors. :D

I know Dell claimed to have fixed the banding issue with a firmware update but if I was someone looking to buy one I would wait a bit to hear some feedback from people buying these now in the United States. Besides, I bet there will be a discount on them at some point in the near future.

I kinda wish I had waited a couple more days, it came out right after I got the 2405 :thumbdwn: I still have time to send it back, but theres no ship date for the 2407, plus I wanted to see what people have say about them first :)

People are [H] are getting theres shipped right now :)

The guy at Dell said that the banding has been fixed on the 2407 US models:
http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dim_monitor&message.id=57451

Alot of people have them already, the main concern was the banding, it was worse than the 2405, however, response and colors were a little better. If they fix the banding this monitor is golden :D
