I am just about to purchase a GeForce 7800 GS. The requirements state that
a 400 watt power supply is required with 20 amps on the 12v rail.
My setup is as follows : Amd 64 3700 socket 754

Antec SmartPower 2.0 450 watt with 15 amps on one 12v rail and 17amps on the 12v2. Segate 160 gig hd 1 Dvd Burner.

I am about to pull my hair out. Can anybody tell me if the power supply is adequate for that card. I called BFG that said yes. Antec told me probably not and the local shop told me yes. :(

Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thx Ron.

With Dual rail power supplys like the Antec sp 450 that I have do I add up both 12v rails to figure the amps. For example in my case it would be 32 amps ? I have a Antec Truepower 480 on another computer that has one rail but 22 amps on it. Any comments would be most welcome as I am an idiot and just would like to install the 7800 on the computer with the 450 watt since it is an Amd 3700. Thx Ron. :(

i'm (temporarily) running it on a PSU that would make you all scream in horror if you knew the specs...

in your case you have 2 yes and 1 probably not
