Starting a new STICKY "Not so Useful Software" :)
Well some off it is hardware, but you're going to be surprised to see some big ones making the list.
These products are so bad, they belong in the high-tech hall of shame.

I pretty much agree.
The only thing I'd change would be to put Linux and the PowerMac on that list.

I've installed several distros, and wrote software for linux as well. I think it's a worthless OS.

eh i dont feel like arguing atm, ill just let it go, but you really are a dumb ass ;)

Just so you know Linux isn't an OS it is a kernel all the apps that surround is what makes it an os, usually the GNU tools which is why the proper name for the OS is GNU/Linux.
Also your post was clearly flamebait since you didn't actually explain on why it is worthless. What makes it worthless? Desktop usage? I'll agree with you slightly there but distro's like Ubuntu are making it easier for the average noob.
You can't possibly tell me that Windows servers are more stable then Linux ones? They aren't usually use too much ram, and are much slower at networking.
Though personally I use FreeBSD on my home server, Linux is still a way better server os then Windows will ever be.

Linux won't run my games
Linux is slower than windows
Linux isn't as stable (for workstation use. Might be different for server use)
Pain in the ass to install video card, and audio card drivers

imo 3 out of 4 of your excuses are completely false, my zenwalk desktop was more than 2x faster than my windows one, much more responsive and pretty... My linux desktop NEVER crashed, my windows desktop doesnt crash a lot (windows xp), but it does on occasion. 3erd off, alsa and oss work with 99% of sound cards and are installed by default in 99% of distros, as for video drivers, they might not be next next next finished, but they are fairly simple and with a readme can be done in a few minutes...

Linux is a wonderfully stable OS, so much so that our forums dedicated to it are absolutely dead!
I can tell lies, too.

you can make up all the BS you like, but I can just go ahread and prove it too you

They benchmarked Doom3 on Windows and Linux. Windows raped Linux.
As far as stability, Linux crashed a lot for me. Like the first hour after I installed RedHat it crashed. I don't think I've had WindowsXP crash on me in a year.

2 things, first off those are gaming benchmarks, its because nvidia doesnt have as good a driver team for linux as they do for windows. Second off, redhat is old and isnt made for new hardware, there hasnt been a new rh distro for like 4-5 years...
edit: that benchmark is a little off, i was breaking 75 fps on 1024x756 on my 6600gt, and their claiming only 65 fps for the 6800

I provide facts. You provide your own opinion.
btw 75 fps on 1024x768 is not possible on Doom3 on high settings. lol simply not possible. I don't even get that framerate for my 6800GT.

First of all, Doom3 is capped at 60fps. This is a well documented fact. So you are a straight up liar for saying that you get 70fps to begin with.
Second of all, there is no way in hell a 6600GT will get 60+fps on linux. No way. Maybe if you are staring at a wall, but average gameplay - no way. Give me screenshot proof, or I'm assuming you're a liar.

Or running at 800x600, low details.

somebodies jelous!!!
Umm hey a12ctic Linux is a nice os but you are just an idiotic fanboy. Doom 3 actually runs about the same on my Gentoo install as it does in Windows... It does not run faster.

Good heavens!!! One Linux supporter bashing another Linux supporter.
I don't understand whats so great about Linux for home use anyways. I can however, understand a server environment.
I don't get any crashes with WinXP, and it runs perfectly smooth, so what am I to gain by running Linux? No games and horrible driver support? Sign me up!
To me its just an alternate. Definetely not any better, sure WinXP has its flaws, but so does Linux and those flaws are much worse in my eyes.

no, it's just that your claims are blatent lies. You haven't shown one shred of proof to back up anything you say, and you make some pretty outrageous claims.

What's this thread about again?
I thought it was a very funny list that was dead on. I had more to say but I don't feel like typing after having to upchuck while reading this thread.
