Playing video while while 3d app is running

I've recently noticed that I'm unable to play video files (wmv, mpeg, etc) if I have a game running. The sound plays but no video. I found it while attempting a last minute review of the WoW hunter epic quest videos just before engaging one of the demons.

Is this a configuration issue or will NV drivers not allow video playback when a 3d app is running? BTW, WoW is running full screen. I alt+tab to the desktop to run the video file.

System specs are:
Athlon 64 4000
1GB RAM
GeForce 7800GTX 512MB w/84.12 drivers
nforce 4 mobo
Audigy 2
