Hi everybody,

last week I purchased a new GeForce 7800 GS to replace my old Radeon 9800 Pro.
But it just wonŽt work!!
The monitor doesnŽt recieve a signal from the card. No BIOS screen, nothing!

I also changed power supply to a pretty expensive 400W-one.

The card works well in a friends computer and his Radeon X850 also works fine with mine. So the card isnŽt damaged, nor is the power supply or anything else on my computer.

Is the DELL computer simply not compatible with the GeForce 7800 GS???

My specs:
DELL Dimension 8300, 3,0 Ghz Pentium4, 1024 RAM, 400W Targan Power supply

I remember reading about problems XFX or EVGA was having with their cards and Dell computers. I don't know if the 7800GS was included. The card might be defective, so you should exchange it and try another. There is no obvious reason why the card wouldn't work IMO. There could be some incompatibility with the mobo. When I had my old 4550, it wouldn't work with certain 6800GT cards either. I finally got a PNY that worked!

It probably doesnt like the Dell motherboard. I couldnt even install the drivers on my card until I flashed my maiboards bios to something newer. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies!
I think IŽll send it back and order an X850... this one should work

I know the GS is picky on the power supply. Not even so much as the max power but something about the railing. I would guess that your Dell PS isn't within spec.
