(no marion and diaw are not good players - they are ok at best)
LMAO!! jeezz... you really have lost it. Marion is one of the best players in the league right now. I honestly think Marion should have had more of a chance to win MVP than Nash(even though Marion doesn't deserve it either)
when nash actually has some decent players around him (stoudamire) expect phx to win a championship. (no marion and diaw are not good players - they are ok at best)
Really?
He single-handedly endeavored, through his tired mind and legs, to lose some games this post-season.
It was the marions and diaw's and thomas' of the team who kept them in and helped the team win.
Nash is a great player but you are giving him WAAAAAY too much credit.
Amare showed glimpses of how good he could be when Marbury was in town so don't try to preach that Nash made him all better. Have you seen his career numbers and the effort he brings every night?
He's a 20-10 player who also just happens to drop in a coupla dimes, blocks and steals every game. Good luck finding many players who can do that AND bring the effort and energy that Marion does.
And don't try to tell me that Diaw and his triple double threat is not a decent player. Playing out of position, he has had a fabulous last half of the season and post-season as Nash tired. Barbosa and Bell also lent a tremendous hand to the team off the bench or starting interchangeably.
Glorifying Nash at the detriment of the excellent group of players in Phx does not do you any justice. No true fan would diss great players and role players on the team like you have just done. I would never dream, if I was a Sun, of considering Marion anything less than a star player. Amare is teh super-star of the team and Nash is the glue that holds them together but come on, stop reaching. It's becoming almost embarrasing.

you are really full of it. Had nash not been on that team, they would have been swept against every team in that playoff series. They wouldn't have even made it to the playoffs to begin with. He is BY FAR the best player on that team (including amare). Remember last year when Nash left due to injuries, and amare was still on the team? They sucked ass.

Well DUH, you think it had nothing to do with the fact that the team and the style D'Antoni had built (around Nash) had nothing to do with it?
Remember whenever Shaq went out? The Lakers triangle offense collapsed and the team sucked. Notice what happened when he left the lakers? Yep, they sucked.
It's a wonder you bother playing Legend of Zelda games, you seem to have no concept of how puzzles (i.e. teams) work.

lol, so basically, you tell me I'm correct, and then you go on to say I have no concept of how teams work. lmao.

I expect a healthy Suns team to be a top contender for the championship next year and probably for a few years after that. Nash may be the best player on that team today, but I expect Amare to take over that role in the next couple of years. With that bad back, Nash will be getting slower and less effective in the coming years.

I still think Nash has two or three good years left in him. With Amare on the team I expect them to win a championship in the next few years.
I think you should change your name to Nash_Fan :smoking:

Im not gonna bother reading through the thread. But I will say this...
Thread starter is a dumb ass. Nash deserved MVP and you are very foolish for saying other wise. If the suns did not have nash this season, they would be screwed.
Look at Tim Thomas as a perfect example. He was a no body, jumping from team to team going no where. Gose to the suns, and nash brings out the talent in him. I can say the exact same thing about Diaw, and barbosa.
O wait, why is it that the suns played with out a center Kirt Thomas, and the beasty power forward Admar Stoudimire and yet still made it to the western confrence finals? Why is it that Nash leads the NBA in free throws 92%, top shooter, and top in assist? Tell me how a soccor player comes to the NBA and pawns everyone? ya he dose not deserve it........ my ass
I hate jack asses like you, that try to take away credit where credit is due.

 its hard to take someone seriously that can't spell correctly, has incorrect information(top shooter? where on earth did you hear that?), and frankly has a very bad attitude. Why even post if you are just posting to cause trouble?

What I mean by top shooter, is that he is in the top 10 in points.
I can't wait till next season already. Kurt Thomas, and Admar will be back playing along side Diaw, sean M., Tim Thomas, and Nash. They will be a championship team next year for sure.
Why even post if you are just posting to cause trouble?

Very very true Zelda. ill agree with your points... but i come from the camp of people who see MVP as most valuable player.. not most valuable team member.
MVP has always meant that he is the most valuable player to the team he plays for. That is why you can have a MVP on a team that didn't make the play-offs. It is rare but if they make that much of a impact on their team then they can get the title.
You aren't even worth responding to. Try a little more with the facts other than crying and you might be worth it. And for the "tough guy" comment. I don't exactly have to explain myself with a 20 -1 Boxing record. ;)
Tyger, BK isn't one to be bragging about a boxing record to. Some people can box like you and are pretty good at it and some people can just plane hurt you. That is the catagory that BK falls into.
I have fought many boxers when I was in kenpo. I have fought many tae kwan do and karate and kung fu. The ones that were the easiest were always boxers. I am not saying I was good or that I was tough but boxers just didn't know how to defend against grapling and since kenpo is 50 kick 50 fists boxing was not a problem.
Anyway I am just wandering down memory lane. So the moral to the story is boxers are pusses and Nash is a gift from heaven to the basketball world.:D

UDawg's favorite basketball player is his lover Magic Johnson.
What I mean by top shooter, is that he is in the top 10 in points.
Yah he's in the top 10 of the 30-39 scorers in the NBA, ranked at 33
Shawn Marion whom all y'all hate (if you like Nash) is ranked in the top 20 at 17.
I can't wait till next season already. Kurt Thomas, and Admar will be back playing along side Diaw, sean M., Tim Thomas, and Nash. They will be a championship team next year for sure.
They will be championship contenders, as they were this year and the year before and the year before that, just like all the other team.
I am hoping Amare can dominate like he did before (you know, like when he CARRIED the team against the spurs) and doesn't pull a Weber.
Why make a stubid thread to begin with?:thumbdwn:
So we can watch you pull stats out yer ass (nana2)

eh... I was off but it looks like so are you. Just checked at nba.com and Nash is tied with Sean M. for 19th place in points.(nana2) (pirate) How about them apples.

I live in San Antonio. Admar tried to carry the team by him self was why they lost agaist the spurs. We all know one player can not carry the team by them selves, and hopefully Admar learned from that. That is why Kobe and Lebron failed this year.

Why post in a thread you think is stupid?
Not once in this thread as the thread starter stated on why Nash him self dose not deserve the MVP. Intead list other players that deserve it. No points on why nash should not get it, but points on why these players should get.
I my self am a athlete. I train, work out everyday, do what ever I can to achieve my dream. I'm a speed skater that hopes to go to the olympics to win the gold. It pains me to see people spit on a athlete, Especially a athlete like steve nash. He has come a long way to the NBA, has had his up and downs, and fair share of doubts.
Let me tell you this...
Nash is a play maker, and a team leader. He feeds his team and makes them grow. He teaches his team, and watches them learn. He has made his team a better team. He has refined his team on what it is now. Can you say the same thing about Lebron? or Kobe? Or even Wade?
This is why Nash is MVP.

Fascinating.
Didn't realize post-season stats SOMEHOW constitute regular season numbers too.
I guess you will therefore now say that since Dwayne Wade was the post-season MVP, he was also the regular season MVP?
(nana2) How you like THEM Apples? (pirate)
Seriously, double-check your numbers before making a bigger ass of yourself.

Right and Nash was on the team that season, he was the MVP. W/O Amare, the Suns would have been humiliated. If Amare needs to take anything from that series, it's that no one could guard him and he was the single most dominant AND valuable player in that series.
Kobe and Lebron failed because, for Kobe, he has a crap team and for Lebron, the Pistons made a great comeback and the Cavs didn't have the experience to stem the tide. Miami didn't capitulate because those guys have been in a lot of battles and Dwayne/Shaq/Zo were there last year.
Nash is a good player, heck even a borderline great player (and those are very few and far between) but there is no way he can take his team to great heights by himself. Shaq can take teams to the playoffs all by himself as he has done throughout his career, Kobe showed he can do the same and Lebron and Dwayne and Carmelo have also proven themselves. Nash cannot take a team by himself to the playoffs and he cannot win a playoff series by himself.
The post-season proved that as he vanished for huge stretches during crunch time. This is not football (soccer) where you can vanish for long stretches and still count (a la david beckham).
Wrt your last post about whether Lebron or Kobe or Dwayne (I'll toss Carmelo into the mix) has made the team his, let me put this to you, how many games has Nash won for the Suns in the 4th quarter by taking over the game and willing his team to victory?
Lebron has done it. Kobe has done it. Dwayne has done it. Carmelo has done it. These guys have put the team on their backs and carried them to victory, this makes the team THEIR's and is leading by example. Nash is a distributor a la Stockton or Kidd. Both those guys made their teams better and were the chief facilitators. How many MVP's did they win? Why did Magic win MVP's? Coz he LED HIS TEAM by example.
Wade in his rookie season carried the Heat to the second round of the playoffs. This was before Shaq got there. The ROOKIE did it. Lebron was at home, joined shortly there-after by Carmelo who, although he took his team to the playoffs, was not able to get past the first round. Dwayne has done a lot in his career already and has a ring. Nash doesn't. Dwayne has a finals MVP, Nash does not. And it wasn't disputed. Dwayne clearly deserved it, there was no one even close. Jason Terry would have gotten my vote for 2nd place and Dirk 3rd.
The rookie took his team from a lottery situation to a playoff winner.
All the guys you listed make their team better. Kobe has the hardest time because of what happened when Shaq left. The offense, the entire team is in a process of transition. Nash was fortunate because he was the missing piece for the Suns. The lakers have to rebuild from scratch and are doing so. Even so, they took Nash (and the suns) to 7 games.
Would we be having this conversation if Thomas had not hit that 3? More likely you would be defending Nash for some other reason.
It is ironic and, frankly, disrespectful to hear the way y'all Nash fans continue to bash the Suns and the calibre/class players they have for the betterment of Nash. If you were to bash the lower-tier players on the team, I would understand, but not the better players.
I hope Shawn Marion comes back, sounds like the Suns are looking to move him though :(

NASH DESERVED THE MVP...I really hate to say it because I'm a Lakers/Kobe Fan...Based on the regular season (wich MVP voting is), I would disagree. Based on the playoff's though, it's quite obvious that he WAS THE MVP. Trust me, I was pissed when Kobe didn't get it (81 anyone?), but truth be told, to me the MVP should be voted on AFTER the playoffs, in wich case I would have to say Nash deserved it. I've always liked that SOB anyway :)

After the playoffs Nash deserved it eh?
I guess Dwayne Wade was playing in the NBDL or something.
