hey guys,

I've got my friends Athlon XP 2500+. he ran it as a 3200+ fine on 1.65v , and now i got it. he was running a A7N8X E Deluxe latest bios, and im running a A7N8X Deluxe rev 2.00 bios 1008 (latest) with a Antec 480 watt power supply running 38A on +5V max and 28A on my +12V, and 2x512 ddr400 kingston valueram sticks in dual channel mode..., ive got cooling all round on the board, and he didnt, (i got NB cooled, SB cooled, volcano 11 on cpu etc) , anyways we left vcore at 1.65 and just changed mulitplier to 200 (11X200) and posts fine does everything fine, now last night i was just browsing forums, and it BSOD on me, after it booted back up i turned up my fan full blast on the cpu, thinking it was heat problems n removed side case, it was freezing then, then i ran prime 95 wen i went to bed, woke up this moarning and it had actually completed alot of tests, but then had error'd sometime in the night

now i was reading this review here, http://compreviews.about.com/od/cpus/l/aaAthlonXP2500.htm and wen it comes to overclocking they had to raise it from 1.65v to 1.70, i was wondering if this could be my problem, this is the error i got running half life 2 after it hung, then BSOD on me, it said caused by nv4_disp but i doubt it was, never used to do it till we installed this cpu. http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=fc49553a-d0cd-4d9d-999a-34c7e3de2e4e&SID=11

hitman blood money just kicks me to desktop no errors or anything...

so could anyone help me at all, i really want to run 400FSB ...

any help would be appriciated:)

EDIT: also im running "optimal" memory timings
EDIT2: i just ran 1.7 volts, n still same problems, should i try for 1.75? or could it be ram?

i believe the A7N8X Deluxe motherboard that you have doesnt fully support a 400MHz FSB evem though it says it does. i think the A7N8X-E Deluxe board does.

my brother had an A7N8X mobo like you have, and he had stability issues at FSB400.

The rev 2 does fully support 200(400) bus. I had a 2500+ in my A7N8X Deluxe v2.0 running as 3200+ but I had to set the voltage to max 1.85v. I also Have an "E" version board running a 2500+ at 3200+ but set to 1.75v. Over clocking is a crap shoot, all hardware is different. Just because you may have the exact setup as another system with the same CPU from that system doesn't mean it will work the same way. You'll need to experiment to see what works best with your hardware.

You should never go for the highest voltage first. Start low and ingrease 1 step at a time. Chances are you won't have to go to 1.85v. I also have a 2500+ that was factory locked that couldn't be overclocked at all. Once it was off the default settings it never ran stable.
