View Full Version : Temps with 7900GT & new VF900-Cu..........

I was wondering if anyone else who has a VF900 on their 7900GT can give some insight on their temps before/after. I just wanna make sure my temps are generally in the same range as most people's.

55* idle / 72* load (w/ clocks set at 520/1540)

44* idle / 55* load (15 mins of rthdribl) (w/ clocks set at 540/1600)

My two 7900GT SS ran at 51c and 53c at idle and after running 3D06 three times my temps rose to 85c and 88c after the install of the Zalman VF 900-Cu
my idles are 37c and 38c and after running 3D06 three times my temps went to 55c and 57c ,so the Zalman makes a big difference.they were set at default 600/1600

Hmmmm.....I wonder why my idle is so high compared to yours.

I have very clean wiring in my case and good airflow (2 80mm intakes in the front, 80mm exhaust on top, and 80mm exhaust in back).

It must be the So Cal. weather. It's like 85* Farenheit in my room.

At default speeds before fitting the VF900 mine ran at 50 degrees idle and about 75 at full load. After fitting my temps went donw to 32 Idle and 50 at full load. The temp in the room is about 18 degrees.

Then after overclocking to 530/1600 it runs at 36 idle and 57 at full load.

I don't really care about the idle temp that much. It's the load temp that was concerning me.

I guess I should be pretty happy with a load temp. decrease of 17* from 72 to 55 right?

My card @ 690/850(1700) is idling right now between 41'/42' C. My load temp is like 62' C. Before adding my VF900, my card idled @ 56' C, but not sure what loads were hitting, I think low 70's or something, I dunno. Oh, in the afternoon, my card idles at about 44' C, but that is because my room is on the west side of the house and we've been in the 90's lately, with 100's coming this weekend. I have 3x80mm intake fans, 2x80mm outflow fans and 1x90mm blowhole fan. :D

Here's my VF900/7900GT experience...

My Antec P-180 with it 4 120mm fans keeps things pretty cool ,I have all my harddrives in the lower cage and I have the middle cage out and one of the 120mm fans blows right on the cards and my room is pretty cool, and my system temp is 29c,so that may be why my idles are lower.and I don't know how you hooked up your Zalmans ,but I have mine hooked straight to the power supply with a 3pin to molex connector, except I have the signal wires hooked up to my motherboard so I can monitor the speed of them , they run at full speed at 2890rpms,but they are quiet ,I love my P-180 case,it is the quietest case I have ever owned.

So I shouldn't be worried with the new temps right?

They seem pretty good to me I guess.

Before I was idling at 49 and loading in the 70's with my Stock cooler.

With the VF-900 I idle at 40-41 and load at 51-52 pretty amazing. I want to get another 7900GT for SLI but all the stories about bad cards is making me hesitate.

They do work good and SLI is great ,but I had to go though my bad ones before I got a pair that works ,but other people are more lucky.

I just installed the Zalman VF900 on my 7900GT. Most impressive product and very easy to install!!!

Temps went from 55 idle 79 load
to 44 idle 54 load.

My load temp is now lower tham my idle temp was!!!

Huge difference!!!!

I installed about three weeks ago. AS5 and OCZ copper ram sinks.
Stock was
Idle 53 Load 75

After VF900
Idle 42 Load 55

This is honestly the best GPU cooler I have ever encountered.
