A while back my 1 of my two sticks of 512 just stopped working, so I decided it was time to buy some new ram, because I was using old ram on my new computer. 512 is a real pain to use.

Anyway, I have 270 dollars to spend, and I am looking for a good 1x2gb set.
I am unsure if I should go for ddr400 or ddr500.

At first I was looking at these

but then I saw these ddr500 for almost the same price. (which I thought seemed strange)

but the timings are pretty high I suppose, but would getting the pc3200 set be more cost effective? I'd like to have some left over to grab a new hsf for video card.

so.. I am unsure of what to get now. I an also spend more money than these, if anyone has any killer recommendations.

also, I just picked OCZ randomly pretty much, I have used corsair before.. but I really don't have a preference for brand, so that is why I am asking you guys.

Thanks

oh, and here are my specs.
AMD Opteron 165 @2.4ghz
Corsair (something) pc2700 2x256 (at ddr400)

then stick with the Corsair RAM (Crucial Redline is in there too with ASUS). For some reason, many of the latest MB's like particular brands of RAM, for instance the DFI MB's like OCZ better than any other brand. The speed you buy really depends on what you want to do with the PC. If you intend to OC (and you have a nice OC for an Opty 165 now), then go for the faster RAM. But I would stick with the Corsair as long as you have that ASUS MB.
