When will that be? Well, 3D Realms now has a fairly large incentive to get Duke Nukem Forever done by the end of the year. The 10-Q also reveals that Take-Two has offered the studio $500,000 in the form of a promissory note if the game sees "commercial release" by December 31, 2006. The deal applies only to the PC version of the game, although it was announced for the Xbox and the PlayStation 2 in 2001 and is rumored to be in development for the Xbox 360.

Wow, thatd pay for like, the first month of developement... $400 million more and they might break even!

Seriously though, I doubt that will get them to release it, but itd be nice. The game is going to be good, its just a matter of staying alive long enough to play it.

DNF for Playstation2? Jesus..Every time I read anything about that weak-ass relic of a system I feel like I've swallowed a steamy pile of rotting maggots.

Every time I read about DNF I feel like everyone's pointing fingers and laughing at me.

George Broussard from 3DRealms responds too the Take-Two incentive.

Um, yeah.

Under the original deal, 3D Realms was to receive some $6 million from Take-Two to develop the title. Now the Texas-based developer will receive only $4,250 for the oft-delayed game when it is completed

Neither of those is/was true, to my knowledge. So, yeah.

Our deal is simple. We're making the game. It'll be done when it's done. We've funded 99.999% of the game (aside from a very, very small advance from GT Interactive, years ago, before Take 2 bought the game from them). It's our risk, our necks and our gamble. Under the deal we should be earing royalties from about unit 30,000 or so (that's a real small number), so yeah...

As for the 500k completion bonus, I don't even know were that came from. Scott would know, but I do know that we never cared or asked for it, and I think it was just tossed in as part of some other agreement. We're certainly not motivated by that amount of money, after all this time, and getting the game right is what matters. I would never ship a game early (even a couple of months), for 500k.

It's just very odd to read all this and see facts tossed around, that as far as I know, are completely wrong (at least as stated or interpreted above). Maybe it all traces back to the original Gamespot article getting things wrong, or interpreting them wrong (and every other site copy/pasting the news with no attempt to verify), or Take 2's report languge being vague at best. Game journalism is actually pretty annoying in the copy/paste regard.

Relating this game I only see chit-chat, blah, blah.... no screenshots, no videos, I highly doubt this will be finished in little time, regarding the comments of 99,999% finished, show us some videos and I will believe again

I don't think he siad 99.99% finished... he meant 99.99% funded

True, me bad, but I need to see some proof that this is "in development", some screenshots, gameplay videos...something to believe

I went from the Quake engine, to the Quake II engine, to Unreal engine, to Unreal engine 1.5, which was 7 years ago, according to wikipedia. Holy crap

DNF's got alot to compete with when it does come out but i do think it will be a very decent above average game.

I want it to last longer than 10-15 hours if possible look close to or better than hl2 which george has commented that it will and have action throughout.

Imo our expectations dont come close to what this game will be like.

The only game i think will look better than dnf is crysis, but that is one awsome engine which is way before its time.

I think (and hope) we will see something before the years end.

Yeh, if this game ever gets released then even if it is good by usual standards, it will get slammed even if its as good as HL2 just because it is so imfamous by now. I would be embarrassed to be one of those guys working on this game, especially if it scores poorly. The ultimate vaporware!
So, it had better be the best game ever in order to save face.
