View Full Version : Crap! I think my DS Lite has bad pixels

I just got home with my DS Lite, plugged in a GBA game and noticed that there is a BRIGHT red pixel in the uppermost right hand corner and another one in the middle of the bottom of the screen. Tried another game and got the same thing.
What should I do? I bought it at EB Games. Will they do a simple exchange tomorrow?

They should do an exchange, but they are probably sold out already.

They should exchange it, My friend had one aswell when he picked his up. Thankfully he was trying it out in the mall food court so it was just a simple walk back to EB rather then having to drive all the way back to the mall.
It does seem to be a rare case of dead pixels though, I hope my DSLite doesn't have one when it arrives today (ordered it online).
EDIT:
Just got mine, Fedex just dropped it off. Looks to be fine, no dead pixels from what I can tell. Wish it came with a cloth bag similar to the PSPs, don't want it to get scratched... so much better looking then the original DS.

Same thing happened to me. EBGames swapped it out, but the exchanged one had dead pixels too. Needless to say I wasn't pleased.
Luckily, dead pixels are covered by Nintendo's warranty and they will ship you a replacement in advance. All you need is a credit card which they will put a hold on until they recieve your defective DS Lite. They will send you a UPS return shipping label, all you are charged for this whole service is $5 for the expedited shipping fee.

Cool. I'll head back to the store tomorrow and exchange it then. Think I'll open the new one and test it right at the counter before I leave this time. ;)

On the downside... all the dead pixles are EXTRA BRIGHT on the DS Lite
Nintendo has one of the best return policies and customer service when it comes to dead pixles, so I'm not surprised it got replaced so fast for other people. Deep down I think Nintendo cares about their fans... deep deep down... and just a tiny tiny bit

Well its replaced. Took it back to the EB Games I bought it from and they gave me the last one they had. Took less than 5 minutes, no fuss. Bonus points to EB for making it easy and not giving me any crap about it or how "it was their last one".
Now just need to get a game that really takes advantage of the touch screen.
