If the R600 does indeed have 60% more memory bandwidth than the GTX, I'd expect to see much bigger performance advantages than what we see in the alleged leaked benchmarks.
That said, I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see a 512 big memory bus, but if we do, it's going to cost more than a 8800 GTX.
I think things will be competitive at relative price points. The only thing that might kill it is if you have a 5800-type problem where someone guessed wrong on what exactly is needed for good performance on next-gen games, but ATI's as likely to make that mistake as NVIDIA.

Its gonna be really expensive because using that much DDR4 isnt gonna be cheap AT ALL.

512 bit bus has all but determined the high price point.

The day and age of computers and we can do so much to show the other person or persons what is and what isn't, meaning people can doctor pages beliefs items or what ever they need too and to show the point at hand , meaning the point that ATI has something to compete with the G80, both companies have had there ups and downs, there is a saying in business and life , that it is easier to work your way to the TOP than to Stay at the TOP! 1) the facts G80 is out and being sold day by day to people all over the world, dx10 ready for vista, which is out to the business world, drivers isn't ready for vista, well it doesn't matter, it only matters to the people who whine. 2) ATI isn't out they can say anything and everything because they are not out, you can always change your planning anytime who will know, they will that's all. 3) IF and ONLY IF they came out the EXACT time the G80 did then we all could talk about performance, since ATI isn't out they have nothing to say, yes they are yippy cause they do this for a marketing ploy to get the avid ATI fans to excited that just maybe they have something worth while, See we call all talk and type for a life time to disagree, we are all different that is why. Until ATI and NVIDIA come out same time then there is something to say! IT is always very easy if your in the same industry to buy a an item and reverse engineer it, and then make your own similar but better, that is why ATI can come in 2nd, and this could be a wild off the wall, but look Intel was going no were with the P4 so then they come out withcore dual that just happens to come with twice size of L2 of AMD, did 10 years ago did Intel have this laid out I DON'T THINK SO there smart enough to reverse engineer the chip (who will know) in Business you can do anything and people do. I'm sure ATI did, its easy to speculate at this point just because there not out...Now I'm sure there will be many to pick a part of what I said, just because they can and will and for what ever else reason there is.

Rather funny how the people without 8 series cards are open-minded about the benchmarks, and people with them believe they are complete bs. Personally, I think they are complete bs :D.

Apparently cebit in March. It the specs are true its going to be an expensive monster of a card.

Yeah, that shot does not look so great. But who knows, maybe the final will be significantly better.

One R600 faster or even as fast as 2x 8800GTX ? Not a chance...
