I have a Gigabyte Mobo, which is a 4X AGP board.
If I decide to get the Radeon 9700 Pro, will I also have
to get an 8X AGP board?

No, I wouldn't recommend spending any more money than you have to. :)
I run my R300 using AGP 4x and it runs perfect.

My 9500 (before it got messed up) worked perfectly fine on my AGP 4x KT266A-based motherboard. I expect the same when my replacement arrives.

Thanks for the quick replies.:)

That Radeon 9700 Pro is looking better by the minute.
If it drops below $200 in the next month or two, it's mine.

I'm hoping the new pricing scheme unfolds like this personally.

9900 $399
9700P $299
9700 $199
9500P $150
9500 $100

Then I'd pick up a 9500P to hold me over till R400(my 8500 still does fine, but I'm starting to get the upgrade bug, even if I don't need it).
