For a single card you do not have the option to select SFR/AFR.

Basically the 7950 is treated as a single card.

Really? I thought we could still select which one we wanted to use for each game. This is news to me :o

Thanks jAkUp, so when I create a profile I should set my sli options to Single gpu instead of trying to use SFR and AFR correct?

It'll be faster then your 7900 GT SLI.

Ok, just got my card and installed it, been playing around with the new control panel and old control panel. I see that sli enable option is not showing up (guess you need another card for it to show up) but you can pick Single gpu, SFR and AFR in profiles. Hmmmm I wonder if I can stick one of my 7900GT with my new 7950GX2 while I have my case open up. I will be back! :naughty:

Wow, I was not aware that you can set the AFR/SFR modes with a single card.

However, a 7900GT and 7950 will not work in SLI mode.

I was thinking about doing the same with my 7900 GTX and GX2 7950, which you can do since they are based on the same chip (different clocks and memory don't matter). But the SLI connector at the top of the card is in different positions and the only way to join is if they come out with a "flex" connector (which I doubt). Anyway, loving every minute of my XFX GX2 7950 XXX! :D

Ok guys just wanted to report back on my findings :D
I decided to place my 7900GT in my computer with my new 7950GX2, first Pharma was right sli bridge does not align right. So I said shoot will not work, than I remember that some one saying you can use sli without the bridge connection, so in went the 7900GT.
Windows XP boots up and tells me that it found a new card and installs the driver than reboots (91.31 drivers)
Drum roll in the background........ :D
Xp boots up and tells me that I have sli enable system I tell it to enable Sli and bang I get sli options now in the Control Panel.... I wanted to see if sli was actually working or it was just a fluke, so I ran F.E.A.R with sli enabled (7900GT with 7950GX2)and without sli (7950GX2 only). Heres what I got:

Sli-Disabled (7950GX2 only)

Sli-Enabled (7950GX2+7900GT)

Tri-sli system? :D lol

As far as I know, your 7950 requires SLI mode to use both GPUs. Thats why you are getting a performance increase when you turn on SLI mode. I doubt it has anything to do with the 7900GT

What settings were you using in FEAR, he's getting scores higher then Quad SLI, but that's probably because he has all the settings turned down.

shungokusatsu, I tested F.E.A.R using the settings I had which are:

I just think its pretty cool that Nvidia's drivers can detect my 7900gt and let me enable sli with my 7950GX2. I will test it out on some more games I have but so far its been stable I think due to the 7900GT bascically using the same gpu as the 7950GX2 , Hmm any one else try to use their 7900GT with their 7950GX2? :)

Yeah jAkUp, you should be able to get your hands on some 7900GT to test it out. :D

pharma, do you still have your 7900GT? Why don't you place it in your pc with your 7950GX2, I like to see your result?:D

I bet you that is exactly what is happening. When SLi is disabled one one card on the GX2 is running. With SLi enabled both cards on the GX2 are running, thus utilizing SLi. Though I could be quite wrong.

I wonder if Nvidia is going to be doing what ATI going to do with its drivers, allow the user to use more than one card so other cards can become a physics gpu (I hope!).. :D

Do you have any more result related to Your Tri-Sli system? such as 3D Mark!

Nope, I sold my 7900GT's , debating if I should use the money to buy another 7950GX2 or save up for the next Nvidia Card! :)
I could get a PhysX card now that I got room to use my other pci slot! LOL

Ok just wanted to tell the people who owns a single 7950GX2 the settings I find that works well is to use single-gpu rendering (located in Manage 3D Settings, guess so since this is a one card solution) If I try SFR or AFR it seems to be jerky.

Basically, what you're saying is, you have the multi-gpu option enabled in the control panel (the area where you'd normally enable SLI, quad-sli, etc.) but then in the profiles you need to select single-gpu mode for it to work correctly?

You're using "trilinear" filtering in FEAR. You need to turn on anisotropic 16x to get a better idea from your benchmark.
