I saw the minimum video card requirement was a DX9 capable card. Does that mean some test will be skipped over when the benchmark is run?? The only DX9 capable cards (as far as I know) are the R300-class Radeons and the upcoming GFFX.

3DMark2001 also skips tests if you don't have a DX8 card, but the benchmark still runs on older cards. I can only assume it'll be the same with 3DMark03.

I pulled out the old stopwatch and timed the countdown timer. After several test, I came up with about a drop of 200 per second. After doing a little math, it puts it at being out around 8am (Pacific) on Tuesday the 11th.

The minimum video card requirement is a DX9 compatible card that is at least DX7 compliant.

Compatible means that it works with that version installed.
Compliant means that it meets the specifications of that version.

So the minimum card is GF256 or original Radeon or similar.

To clarify:

If you have a FULL DX7 COMPLIANT card, you can run only one of the game tests, and thats it! [GeForce 1/2, MX , Rad7500 etc]

If you have a FULL DX8 or 8.1 COMPLIANT card you can run three of the four game tests! [GeForce 4/3TI, Rad 8500 etc]

If you have a FULL DX9 COMPLIANT card, then you can run all the game tests [Rad 9x00 PRO/NonPro ]

And to add, just to run the demo, you need a card capable of PS1.1

50 hours left. This is super gay. 75bytes a second on a 2mbps cable connection. Woohoo....

I'm getting a nice solid 80K/second from a German mirror :> Gotta love those Germans.....their Tiger Tanks RULE ! and so does the Autobahn.

I want to post the link, but I'm afraid my download will stop to 0 if I post it too fast :( I already posted it to the Nvidia newsgroup, but at least it takes awhile for news to propagate :)

I'll tell you what: PM me for the link please. (that way no guests can get it). My download is slowly getting slower...it started at 80K/second and is now at 70K/sec :( at 22% completed :(

Some sites are taking the file down due to the fact taht they are getting hammered. So lame, next time Futuremark get the proper hosting for your sh8%. Screw this crap I will get it next week when its not the "cool" thing to download.

I think I'm downloading from the same mirror as Falkentyne. started on 60KB/s now down to 50KB/s :( 40% complete though

I'll rar and upload the file to the newsgroup ALT.BINARIES.MISC after it's finished. Even though uploading stuff lags me out so badly I can't do anything, and 177 MB takes a LONG time at 15K/second :(

And getright just gave me some sort of "access violation: transfer in progress". That could be due to the fact that the first 3 segments finished and now I'm getting 20K/second. it's 74% done though.

140KB/s with download accelerator

Does this thing **REQUIRE** DirectX 9?
If it does, then I'm screwed, because I've seen so many reports of programs that don't work / start with DX9, or of programs that do start, but are corrupted -_-

And I haven't seen a Directx 9 uninstaller that WORKS with win9x at all, yet... :(

There goes your 140 KB/s :-)

I wish I had a net graph of the amount of traffic right now...kinda reminds me how the net slowed down by 30% when the UT2003 demo was released....

50% done. It's still 130KB/s, folks.

Done. Was at 125KB/s with default DA settings (file split into 4)

Mine's finished too, but it's whining about Dx9 being needed :( That's something I'm NOT happy about installing, because there's no uninstaller for win98/me ! And I've seen far too many posts about games and apps not working with DirectX 9....I don't want my perfectly working computer to suddenly not be able to work anymore, without needing a format, and losing 40 GB of data !

Here's the mirror site, anyway.

Was that the mirror you were using, Philibob ?

And does anyone know if there is a Dx9 uninstaller that works with win98se?

I was using a different one: http://badct.4players.de:1337/dlredir.php3?id=1174&type=file
I wonder if I'm safe posting that, I've still got 6 minutes of download left :D
