Sony's exec Jack Tretton told thestreet.com that Sony doesn't think GTA's exclusivity will effect the popularity and the sales of the PS3.
"There's no question that having the Grand Theft Auto franchise helped us a lot and helped us sell some units, but I don't think the battle would be any different with or without Grand Theft Auto."

The game is still coming out for the PS3, so it is not that big a deal.
The 360 game with have "exclusive content"!

No, it will have none of that but i've heard that a horse armor pack is almost certain, so stuff like that will clearly swing the pendulum towards the 360 version (Magus, don't start again please. I'm having a discussion here) :D

Sony would probably say the same thing if DMC, MGS, FF, and Tekken were to become non-exclusive. They are a pretty egotistical bunch.

No, I don't think they would quit, but I don't think they would go as far to say that the Xbox would have done just as well without it, because in all honesty, I don't think it would have. I would take that comment offensively if I was Rockstar, that game(s) sold Sony millions of consoles.

But so has Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid... Honestly... if Sony lost those two I would find it very hard to buy a PS3... Still would but probably not at launch.

But those games aren't launch titles? I'm going to buy a PS3 becuase of FinalFantasy and MGS, but only after some more games are released. The xbox360 doesn't have any games as of yet that interest me much, so it's more or less functioning as a dvd-player.
I don't think that GTA would have had a major impact on the console market since previous rockstar titles have eventually ended up on xbox and pc.

Everyone is a Bill Gates hater but the simple fact is that Mr. Gates is one of the biggest philanthropist (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Philanthropist) currently living in the United States. He is stepping down as the head of Microsoft to concentrate all his efforts on his charitable foundation.
As per Sony's stance on GTA, I expected them to pretty much wave off the importance of having 6-month exclusivity on a monster franchise like the GTA series. It’s the way they handle most controversy. Since Sony does not own companies like Konami and Capcom the possibility of other very popular Playstation only titles moving to different consoles is very real. In this day and age the cost of developing “Next-Gen” titles is so massive that companies are pretty much forced into releasing their software to as wide an audience as possible. The time for big budget exclusive third party games is coming to an end soon.

what are you talking about he hasnt destroyed any companies... hes monoplied the whole operating system so that your sucked into using a over priced, dated, ugly, and slow operating system... what do you think there wernt companies that made other operating systems? BeOS, by far superior to even the newest version of windows GONE... nintendo fan boys dont usualy side with M$ whats your deal zelda?

Hex I love how your response to an all Sony related article is a bash on MS and the 360. The interview didn't mention anything about the 360 nor did my original post, yet it's the very first thing you said how MS's exclusive content has something to do with Sony being egotistical about GTA4.
P.S. I didn't know dell make 25 inch LCDs?
