I might buy a second WD 250GB SE16 and run them in raid. Will this be worth it and how much of a speed difference will there be?

BTW im buying the hard drive anyways, I just want to know if its worth it to raid them.

in games you will not see a thing. in running multiple apps you will never want to go back.

ok... I want to run the 2 drives in Raid 0... would that still be fast?

yes, thats what im talking about...raid zero is striping..but just remember that the problem with stripping is your likly hood of a drive going bad is doubled. i choose to take that risk

I snagged a twin SE16 250gb last week....(the Best Buy deal for $89) to run the beta2 of Vista off of. My plan is to put in RAID "0" with the one I have now as soon as get tired of playing wth Vista(which might be tonight...)
I had RAID arrays for years and I miss the snappiness....I can't wait to get these 16mb cachers together :D

I have two of these in RAID 0. I can tell a huge difference with stuff loading, especially inside Windows, like thumbnails of pictures and stuff. Windows seems to load quicker after the initial black XP screen where the blue bar goes across, that didn't change for me, still 4.5 across. However, once you see your desktop, it's like everything is just there...boom! Stuff is definately running faster/smoother. Glad I did it. My first RAID setup ever.

Here is a benchmark using HDTach with the Short test that I ran on mine;

And here is the longer test;

Yeah, that is about what I got with one drive also. So, you see the difference then, right? :D
