I just found out that my 9700pro is clocked at 297/270. I thought the non pro cards were clocked at this speed. All my attemps at overclocking this mug have failed. An suggestions?

Were did you buy it ? maybe the person who sold you this card fooled you  gave you regular Radeon 9700 and not Pro version

Every 9700pro I've heard of is clocked at 325/310. If this one is different, it's either some weird lemon of a card or, more likely, the seller tried to rip you off.

What'd you use to find out the clockrate? (edit: I ask that because another possibility is the app used to measure clockrate might not be reading it correctly)

I used the Riva tuner

now that i know i have a piece of junk for a vid card would applying heat sinks to the memory increase the sability of the card when i overclock it.

Dude, return the card. If you really did pay for R9700Pro, then it sounds like you got ripped off. If you're intent on trying to keep it, then give Rage3DTweak a try instead.

I agree with tamattack. If they advertised this card as a 9700pro, you should get a 9700pro.

Out of curiousity, what brand/model of card is it? And where did you buy it? If you got it from an internet company, be sure to write a review of them on reseller ratings...
